Maybe I'll be able to get up there this weekend.
The manifold is getting close to being finished anyway.
Whats being done to the manifold?
Its being made! lol
Shaun's making it for me at work. Chopped up an xe inlet, making 4 straight runners to weld to it that go to the carbs then the carbs respaced. All the r1 manifolds I've seen have wonky runners cos the carb spacing is wrong. I wantd them straight.
Ah i remember.
No progress to report sadly only that the manifold is really coming along now and hopefully welded up over the coming week or so (pics when I see it again). Its another weekend where I'm just to busy to get down there but I hoping to do a couple of hours tonight, maybe.
I have however, put a shopping list together of what I still need to get it running and its scary!!
EDIS 4 Setup (£45)
Bottom Pulley with Trigger Wheel (£50-100)
Custom Plug Leads (£40)
Sausage Filter (£50-100?)
Flywheel (£20)
Clutch (£200)
Brake Bias (£40)
Brake Pads & Discs All Round (£100)
Brake & Fuel Lines (£30)
Fuel Tank (£50)
Fuel Pumps & Regulator (£100)
Driveshafts & CVs (£200)
Bucket Seats (£100-£650)
Thats what I can think of right now and christ the "little things" add up! lol
I'm booked a weeks holiday 1st week of May so the plan is to get as much saved up between now and then and have a blitz week.
Sorry for a sadly, nothing update :(
will be a right car when finished this!! keep it up matey!! and work on the mustard yellow turbo aswell??
Cheers dude.
We need to get the engine out of Shaun's so he can start his changes but again its time!
sounds good mate, i must pop over sometime im in norwich most days with work now, what sort of trigger wheel/ pulley you gonna run ?
What the hugely pricey bottom pully and trigger wheel? Whats up with the std one?Quote:

I need a 36-1 trigger wheel to run the ford EDIS-4. Chris Astley can do me an all in one alloy jobby with single V. I havn't even got a standard one you see. Besides, when the engine gets flipped round at some point in the near future it will be on display so a nice shiny, one piece pulley is a must! lol
I need a set of leads that have vaux one end and ford the other (for coilpack) not sure where to get these made yet so price is a big guess tbh.
Driveshafts will be equal length ones which are around £150 new then I need some CVs. I've already got the equal bracket.
Browney, more than welcome to drop by but bear in mind the car is 25mins outside of norwich and I work 12hr days during the week! lol
H&H ign solutions do custom leads i think....
Cheers James, will look into it.
I work for the ex lance owen kingston branch, now known as Now Vauxhall. Bit of usless information for everyone lolQuote:

James you cheeky git! lol Only thing holding me back is cash. So depending on how much business I can book and how much commision it earns me this next few months will depends if its on the road this summer!
Small update to come when pics upload.
Engine bay wiring is basically done for now. I've just got to run the earths for each component (they had to be cut for te rejig), run a wire into the car for the rad fan and main live to starter.
So main loom comes in on the left with also the main live from the battery to the starter...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...5-03-09001.jpg
Wires then run in the scutte for brake reservoir, blower, wiper &washer bottle...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...5-03-09005.jpg
The rest go down the drivers inner wing and under the slam panel with temp switch running down one side and horn, reverse switch & fan the other. Main beam, side lights & indicators now on 1 plug too...

The wires for the back of the engine will all come through here along with loom for the ECU to the EDIS-4 (is only 4 core shielded)...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...5-03-09014.jpg
So all will be nicely hidden away which is one nice advantage of running carbs!
Just got to trim up the rear loom to length then I'll take it all out again to finish off the earths etc.
looking good
SBD also do customs i think mate!Quote:

Cheers for the comments. Its one of those tasks that takes ages and you're spending all the time on something so that people DON'T see it! lol
H&H don't do the leads, will try SBD then. Cheers Dan.
When i had my bike carbs agessss ago, im sure i remember reading you can use a Ecotec/XE dispak with the EDIS system..... (afterall they are fairly generic 3wire ignition packs, same as edis one)
Which would mean you could keep std leads.
interesting! will look into that.
I've acquired today (well in the post) some GTE clocks and inlet rubbers & trumpets for the carbs.
I never got round to doing it,but see no reason why it wont work.....
Best way.Quote:

So back out on the lounge floor...

I've ran all the earths individually for each component in the engine bay (they all had to be cut to move things) and they will all mount up where the old battery earth did on the bulkhead. I've ran a wire back through for a fan overide switch and ran some 4 core shielded through which has all the wires the ECU needs from the TPS and EDIS. I also changed the plug on the wiper motor for a smaller more lightweight item :p

This is how my dash is and as you can see its from a very basic spec model and has lots of blanks. I need to fit 3 small rocker switches and a hole for the serial cable plug in on my ecu - where would you put them?

My attention then turned back to the coilovers as I want to order my springs shortly and need to know whether I need to also order new shorter shocks ie how much piston travel do I have left.
So with the coilover wipped off and spring removed it went back on the car to get an idea of where it hits the stop...

My avo's don't actually have a bumpstop just the spring cups and straight onto the top mount - don't know if thats right? I bought them new like it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../27-03-097.jpg
I did some measuring and with the current 7" spring at the bottom of the platform to where it bottoms out is another 37mm. Do you think I'll get away with a 7" 350lb spring without bottoming out?
The back end is now back up in the air as Michael's coming back next weekend to do some more on the rear arches. Once they're done the engine can come back out and engine bay prepped and painted.
:D
See my reply on mig over dash and switches. Like the sounds of your loom.
The dash switches etc would be best in the radio blank area for ease imo. - my avo's came new without bump stops
