What gasket was it running paul?
As said on phone mate, not good! Hope you get it sorted for Snet.
And your opinion on LETs were taken into consideration..... :)
bad news paul, do you know the reason for failure?
gutted for you mate hope you sort it soon, its only a saturday to repair if the head dont need skimming :)
was on a cometic, heads been skimmed, going for the ZLET oil pump, new cometic, new studs + nuts (i rounded some off taking them off doh) so replacing studs as a just in case too, new timing belt, inlet gasket etc.
Whilst the engine is out I am fitting a Hockley plating kit, which sould be done tomorrow, some solid engine mounts, welding some cracks up, fixing my rear Gbox properly instead of having it just welded to the floor, and also my eccentric top mounts (maybe if i can be bothered lol).
Also the Vectra may soon be given the boot...
Overheating the engine at least twice may had had something to do with it.Quote:

Turned my attention to my standard engine mounts LOL
So decided to make some solid ones, used this TAS? one to mock up with:
Sourced some bushes, bit of jiggery pokery later:

So all I have left to do now is finish off the OS mount which actually bolts to the block, as we didn't like the idea of hanging it throught the aluminium astra gte item.
Going to collect the engine now from Milton Motorsport.
Paul
good stuff :) its fantastic that through out the problems you ve had you just get on and fix them, brilliant attitude and a brilliant car :)
beta be done, im not missing out on a days pay lol
looks good buddy
good work mate! Nice motor this!
Couldnt agree more tbh. No matter what goes wrong you never seem to let it pi55 you off etc, and just get on with it and sort it!!!Quote:

Even the other week when i spoke to him, i asked how much the latest "rebuild" was going to set him back, i was like "fooook me", paul was just "yeahhh, oh well lol "
its all a walk in the park for these boys who earn load of money, everytime i speak he is at home from work and its only 10 o'clock lol
I try to not let mine p*ss me off but its not hard to sort being a 1.3 ha ha its nice though matey!Quote:

That aint the block he uses Keith.
You cheeky fook Mr Brown, i got home at 11.15 today! Its one of them things thats worthless if it aint working lol. If it dont work properly it aint worth having. Thanks for all the comments, just got in from the yard, got all the mounts fittrd with the spare block, made new OS mount which iv just remembered i forgot to tossing paint. Got to weld some sleeves in the chassis leg, cause the 12.9 tensile bolts only came in a cap head for the solid engine mounts. I dont like the idea of 8.8 or just leaving holes for the allen key in the chassis. Then itll be all systems go with re-filling the hole!
engine back in and running mate?
Engine in approx 500 pieces on a tyre still, just got in from work, working tomorrow and tuesday. Snetterton wednesday?lol
this back together yet???
looking nice
Paul what tyres is it your running on this, the ones from Oulton, if you have put it in the thread cant be arsed to look through it all! lol
Scott
s drives Scott, theyre not brilliant, but have lasted quite well.
And to update this, it will be ready for PV :)
Recently I have, blown the headgasket, fixed it, had a ZLET Oil Pump fitted, welded on a hockley plating kit, painted bottom half of the bay, and painted some other bits and bobs, made some solid engine mounts, done Snetterton, destroyed my inlet manifold, had the inlet manifold fixed.
So it went like this:
Hockley Plating kit welded on and bottom half of the bay painted:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5073867_n.jpg
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7037828_n.jpg
Re-wrapped my downpipe:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6035772_n.jpg
Making the solid mounts:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6144629_n.jpg
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7228322_n.jpg
Didnt like the idea of hanging it throught my Astra GTE Alloy mount, so made a new drivers side mount up out of steel:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5145974_n.jpg
Painted up some bits and bobs:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3608888_n.jpg
Got the engine back:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3608888_n.jpg
Put it back in the hole, you can see the finished drivers side mount here, and my bling painted painted bits lol:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2398229_n.jpg
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._8043262_n.jpg
Fitted the remaining bits back on:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6971489_n.jpg
Done Snetterton, destroyed a CV, changed that then destroyed the inlet manifold:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...4_166689_n.jpg
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._4436236_n.jpg
So had it welded back up by a mate of mine:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5391268_n.jpg
Had some struts put in, to stop it from bowing out again, this is only temporary fix, but should suffice for PV and Snet @ the end of the month:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2242500_n.jpg
And in prep for a dirty burnout at PV I am fitted all new brake lines, with a line lock, and for sensible driving a bias valve.
Paul
chav lol
cracking work mate, when is the next snet ???
My zip tie has gone off the chav valve:(
Interesting cross member at the front, something I need to look into.
Paul forgive me for this but what power does it run now and is it on VXR injectors? Whats a rough spec of the motor now? Sorry dont fancy trawling through the whole thread to find that info out!
its 350bhp when last mapped mate, engine is pretty decent spec now iirc omegas, steel rods,z20let pump, oil spray jets, double spring and solid head, xe cams, t34Quote:

ive got a t35 hybrid turbo kit for sale if you want a bigger turbo ;)
i run mine at 330bhp (16-17psi) and tbh that is way to much lol ive run it at highboost only a few times since i ve had it mapped, its just even more pointless than 330 lol lol lol lol lolQuote:

I have also bought some 350lb front springs, GAZ, just got to get the spring cup/platforms machined to take them (SPAX) as they are 3mm smaller I.D.
Finally got round to fitting my eccentric top mounts too!
And I'm doing Snett on Monday!
G A Y
Least he's got his put on :p lol
Evidentally you have no idea, that is the most gangster colour wheels ever :cool:Quote:
