Need some new tyres, preferably, 185's. Like how the wheels turned out after a lick of paint though. Just the bumpers to do next weekend to complete the look :)

I decided to do a spring swap so the 40mm kit was on the decent gas shockers (what I should have done from the start anyway). Put the MO's back on, and also fitted the GTe bumpers I aquired from Vauxal (long standing MSN mate) for a song! Cheers matey!
Looks lovely now imo. Perfect for a first car for Hayles, and finally she's started lessons again lol

Backbox still sits funny, but that cant be fixed without a heat up and some pipe bending lol

Just this minute I looked at the 1.2 tuning guide in Articles. Serems the best bet is GSi exhaust (done), 1.4 SR cam with dizzy setup, 1.3 inlet and a twin choke carb. The old Blue SR has a 1.4SR cam, 1.3 inlet and a Weber 32/34. Hell, I might as well, it'll make it easier to drive on hilly motorways lol
I will also hopefully be picking up a new tow vehicle / workhorse / mobile tent in the next day or two :)
Thats looking cool with the gte stuff on
Get the bits swapped over off the 14 :)
Huge mincing today :) Sun was out, so I thought id tidy the Fronty up a bit.
Firstly I wanted to have the wheels off and inspect teh brakes. Good job I decided to do this as the nuts were UUUBBEEERRR tight. After bending my wheel wrench using a 3 meter pole, I took it up to my mechanic who nearly broke his 1 inch breaker bar on them!! Got back home, and as I suspected, the discs are fubarred and the pads are nearly completely gone, so new stuff is on the shopping list for next month. Rear shoes are in quite good nick though so thats good!
WHile the wheels were off, I decided to give them a brush of Hammerite. I knew it wasnt going to look special at all, but they look awful at the mo, so anything would be an improvement. I plan to get some new rims for it in the future anyway.
Before (this one was in ther best condition lol)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...8052008082.jpg
After
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...8052008084.jpg
Despite the poor finish, they are a 100% improvement!
Then while the brush was wet I painted up the kickboards as they were rusty as feck! Then gave it a polish :)

After a thorough check over, all it needs is front brakes and it looks like the oil pressure sensor is leaking. Not bad at all!! I also plan to remove the viscous fan and put an elecy one with a thermostat on to unleash a couple of ponies :)
That looks better than I thought it would look.
Does look pretty 'ard on the black wheels
have fun when you do your front brakes as you have auto locking hubs and you have to take them off to do the discs and the wheel baring is in the front discs aswell ohhhhh the fun you will have :thumb:
I noticed that lol. Ive a feeling i may be needing to buy a haynes bible before I attempt it!Quote:

Its been a while, so I thought I ought to dust off this thread and do a little updating.
Over the last few days I decided some serious Barn Pimping was in order. I had no room in there due to rubbish and scrap, Dans car being in the middle of the floor, and myself generally not putting things away because ive had no motivation recently because of money troubles.
So firstly the barn pimpage was going to have to cost the grand sum of nothing, using only stuff we had lying around.
Firstly we had to plug the massive hole that was above the gates which was currently plugged by a big piece of Tarp! We had just enough clear corregated shizzle to do the job, so we completed the job a few weeks back.

So, to this weekends pimpage.
Firstly I had to clear the place up because it was utterly shockingly untidy lol. Dan arrived on Friday afternoon to clear his side of it up, bless him. He got his shell onto 4 wheels, and we shunted it into the corner with most of his stuff inside it. The amount of space this created was amazing!
Meanwhile I had filled 6 black bags of rubbish up! I then took it to the dump before coming back and loading the volvo up with my two holey engine blocks and a load of tailgates and bonnets no one wanted, and took em to the scrappers (bar chris who texted me THAT evening after an old block he could use for experimenting with new engine mounts. The law of the sod at its best!)
So I had a tidy barn, next thing to do was to plug some gaps. My gates sit proud of the main structure as we originally just bolted the new wodden doors to the old metal ones. This left a massive draughty gap..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...3092008189.jpg
Some old rubber car mats, a knife and a stapler later...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...3092008188.jpg
I need some draught excluders for the bottom of the gates and it should stay reasonably bearable during the winter!
Next up was Electrics. Since ive been using the barn, I only had an extension lead running from the next partition lol. So I ran a new cable from the consumer unit into a JB, and wired up some new socketry. I also added a board to hang some tools on
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...2092008177.jpg
Whilst rooting around in the back of the Transit I found a brand new NUVO amplifier, (which is the size of a single gang socket) and some speakers. Had to put that lot up as well.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...2092008179.jpg
Whilst raiding the transit i found some standard light pendants and a load of flex, so i wired up 4 lights on 2 seperate circuits. Added some low energy 15w bulbs (surprisingly bright).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...3092008185.jpg
I then built a new bench out of 2x2 (we have shed loads of the stuff and some board I found on the neighbours scrap pile (result).
Added a strip light above it to give plenty of illumination, and bolted down my Vice which I found in a skip last year.

Really pleased how it turned out, it feels like a proper workspace now!
I even found time to have a mince with the Nova. I thought Id better do something about Dars favorite part of my car lol
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...3092008180.jpg
Took it off and sprayed it up white
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...3092008182.jpg
I also gave the pit bike a clean LOL
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...3092008187.jpg
Loads of room in there now :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...3092008184.jpg

Its cool chris im going to treat it to a new set of leads before next season. Maybe even some plugs as well lol
happy days, plugs as well when will it end:thumb:
Nice 'lil workshop you got there, I maybe able to help you out a bit too - I can get hold of loads of insulation off-cuts if you wanted to warm it up abit, going to do my own garage this winter.
Chris. Lee said you are after a block or a bloke not sure what he was on about lol.
Looking pretty good Mr Lee, should've given it a coat of paint makes all the difference ;)

Dave.
Schweet :) Need to come and see this, looks the bomb!!
Im going to paint it, but no point doing it yet because the back wall may be coming down to double its size :)
It's nearly done now, that is just under a third of the space I have.
Dave.
Dont suppose you found the key for the petrol cap on the SR when you were haveing a tidy did you mate? :(
Sh1te. Forgot about that! Not come accross that yet!Quote:

Also decided to spruce up the paintwork while I was at it.
Craig donated his old MK1 grill after mine was ripped off by some thieving bastids on the estate. Gave that a paint up too. (thanks pal :))
