I wish I had your motivation, you don't **** about! Top work mate
Nice way of getting round the chrome fail on the sump fins. Looks good.
Will have to have a detailed nose around yet more improvements for this year Benn. Your car is a credit to you and the Nova scene in general IMO. Shows us luton chicken lovers can hold a candle to the other marques for craftsmanship.
If i'm honest this all should have been done months ago and i could of just been doing little bits and cleaning the car at this time.
Not having the engine out 2weeks before the first time show. I've slacked big time.
Fins where ok, it was the rest. Not happy with the sump at all, sadly i think they rushed it. Even tho it was there for a few months. I hope my steering rack looks better...
Please do, the car might not look it's best for PVS, but i'll try. IT will look much much better at Billing and Retro Rides.
But yes please do come find the car and me and have chat and a lookie... Thank you very much too :) I just want things done right and it annoys me when things arnt.
You shouldn't be too hard on yourself mate we all have other things in life we like to spend time on not just the novas! The amount of hours we've put in over the years has been a hell of a lot so nothing wrong with chilling for a bit. I feel we're both running out of functional ideas and motivation! My idea is to do very little for some time but just drive and enjoy.....
Nick.
I just see things i dont like and it really bugs me. Then it comes to it and there's much better stuff on tv to watch.. hahaha So over the winter i just couldn't be arsed tbh.
Still a few jobs i'd like to do, but they are more long term ones that small quick jobs.
love it when someone spends time painting and filling/ smoothing engine bays properly...I just get to bored and give up lol
Looks good Benn, long time no speak, hope all is well.
You need to do it right or it will be cracking and falling out. I've never had a single crack, cause it's all propely plated first.
Cheers Matt, it's close enough good here you?
I hate rushing right before the event. That pis$es me off and it's what i'll be doing this time.
Yeah! Engine polish again! :thumb:
The stainless bolts aren't doing you any favours on the sump because you'll never get them nipped up as tight as HT without shearing. The most likely issue is not having the bolts short enough, so it seems like they're tight when in fact they're just bottoming out.
Lol i could do, but it might be a bit too much.
I dont want to miss a show isthe prob... So needs a must.
And yeah please do. Ill be on with Mig so come find me.. Ill be on the Png stand taking pics too tho...
Hhhmm didnt think of strenght over steel over stainless... Lenght wise they are correct, M6x25 (iirc) they are 5mm sorted than the org ones due to the single gasket set up. This lengh down bottom out...
Bay is in primer now :)
So much f**king around.
Car was meant to be paint Friday, wasn't. Meant to be painted Sat morning.. Wasn't... Finally picked it up at 3pm Sat..
Few bits that i'm not happy with and a few things that will need doing after PV (you'll notice the seam sealant in the arch that is finished/painted yet, but will be.
But... With in an hour this happened...

In front the top. The only way... Didn't touch any of mark anything. When while fitting the braided fuel like the jublieeclip scratched the bulk head like a *******.
Oh got these for my oil cooler take off (pump end) and my dad picked me up some oil safe hose and a mega stupid price cause he's to nice.

Ben are you related to Mr Motivator? lol
Not long until PV now! Will it be done?

Great work you definitely don't hang about! I hope aarons mum doesn't mind a few random calls as I see her number scribbled on that note pad lol only joking
No, i just like to show off.. hahahahahahaha.
I'm hoping to make it.
Mrs and me fitted the brake lines and bleed the brakes yesterday before a pub lunch (very rare thing for me) tonight i'm gonna fit the turbo and pipes, with that on i can fit the exhaust, then i did mostly bang the front up together.
hahahahaha i had no clue what you where on about for a sec..... and she might do. That's the bodyshops pad.. haha i was stealing their wifi..
Trying to crack on as i dont want to miss PV.
nice work benn, keep it up.
you always seem to be under pressure before a show, i'm sure it was the same last year. crack on.
Did a bit last night.. Here the damage on the bulk head..

Started with fitting the turbo. Why? Cause everyone loves a turbo!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psed39d3a7.jpg
Fitted my new oil line fittings. (yes the inner arches are very dirty... wait for it)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps21bdbdd4.jpg
Then spent 10mins unwrapping my exhaust... Then over an hour refitting it as with new mounts it was very hard to get on. New rubbers where very hard.
Whole system has been repolished due to the sump leaking and baking it's self on to the exhaust turning it sh*te brown.

Up close...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps6dbbfe02.jpg
My center mount has melted tho.. And it's a specialist one. So i've had to order one from Ebay.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psd1005c02.jpg
MY inner arches are dirty, cause i've done a temp paint job on the filter hole and welding. Just till i can get some 3M sealant to do it properly. So the arches will be cleaned but needing a re do...
Brilliant progress and dedication!! Hope to see the car on Sunday and I'm sure it'll look great even with the small scratch ;)
Not long until Sunday lol
And there's me putting off the fitting of sound deadening and electric windows! Benn, you put some of us to shame!! Astounding, nothing short of it.
Benn! You are a new kind of the adrenalin hunter with the deadline restaurating :D
Love you dedication ben and you attention to detail
Thank you.
Utterly mad! Whip an engine out just days before PVS - this is proper stress territory! Hang in there Benn!
Still cracking on...
Found my filter pipe wasn't a good seal. I had an off cut so i've added it on, got it as centered as i could then tacked it on. Then welded both sides up.

Air tight now. (been given a clean up)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psd8b4a54c.jpg
Made and fitted new oil lines, started piping up the water system.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psaee98e05.jpg
Messed about, with alot of taking off and refitting... Remade my bonnet cable holder, found it didn't work. Went back to the first one as it works.
Started fitting the coil. Can't have it where i wanted as it will be in the way of everything...(started to get annoyed) So moved it, fitted the header tank. Dont like it where it is...(getting more annoyed) But it will have to do for the mo i think.
Piped up the header tank. Things dont think, more annoyed.
So i thought i'd put more of the front up together..

Now,
Nova headlights i think like all Vauxhall are just speed bolted in to the slam panel. Not the best, two of the 4 on mine have all ways been a bit crap. So time to sort that..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2b6c4511.jpg
Knackered hole.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psb53d78e3.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps540d57f0.jpg
Al i drilled them out and have fitted clinch/rivnuts in place. As they are much better.
Fitted,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pscdcd053a.jpg
After paint.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2be5dfb6.jpg
Kinda finished, but want to fit dom style nuts.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psc12a990a.jpg
Top work as always through your build. Please dont ever sell this.
Good improvement with the headlight mounts, the original ones are shocking! Keep it up not far now
Did you make it to PV?
I did.
oooh I like that headlight fix.
