You got it back/roof on yet Benn?
So where did i finish? Oh yeah.. Cleaning the "gutters" out
So main bit cut off, it was on to the small left overs.. Only way to do it..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps47b958a3.jpg
Then you can grind/belt sand what ever the left overs out. I found that taking it back till the roller weld wasn't visible was best. As anymore and it lost all strengh!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psda35c9aa.jpg
Then we could test fit the skin.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psa32bd770.jpg
Fits..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps0a6f6f1a.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps430cb5ed.jpg
Remember the gap to the bar? I't much better now.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps94c4ff91.jpg
Gotta weld said bar in, you can raise and lower the bar about 3/4mm to fit right, so line it up with the skin on and marked it so it was almost touching.
Skin off, line back up and clamp in place.
Weld in, i just reused the factor spot weld holes.. Found the bodyshops welding mask doesn't autodim..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps42110cdf.jpg
Used mine instead... So i could see what i was doing..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps048d5fe8.jpg
Then painted everything that was bare metal with zink primer to protect it. Bar the bits that will be bonded.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psf25a848b.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2e698096.jpg
Now i've never used a metal bonder before, it sets with in 45min. So i left this all to Paul, as he's fully trained in using it and used to fit side panels to Merc Sprinter vans only using it! No welding at all.
This is what's used.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psf54762ee.jpg
Put it here... Both gutters, front screen join, rear boot lip and bit by the hinges. NOT on the top parts of center bar, just a normal sealant was used on them. Because the bonder is so strong it can warp the roof skin if used on the bars.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps9993148a.jpg
Paul liked me taking his pic...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psbaec6e3e.jpg
Time to get clamping...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps5cfa2b87.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psaa8e7347.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps0a44b72a.jpg
With in 40mins it was rock hard. But it was left clamped over night, for everything to dry.
Next morning.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psa9228ef9.jpg
Next job is to weld the pillar joins back up. Not all my welding, as it wasn't 100%..lol
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psbbb880fe.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps5b8f8b04.jpg
Ground off.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps004d6e95.jpg
Years ago, i had an alarm fitted. I said "please don't drill any holes in the car..." So they did. So while i was here it made sense to final remove them (had been using a painted gromit)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps224bfe72.jpg
Roof has been sanded, Pillars now sanded, scuttle sanded as i wanted it repainting. Tomoz the gutters will be fully sealed up and everything can go in to primer.
Great work mate
Mint work as normal
Sorry for the delay Edd, bodyshop and myself have been busy. Really wanted it back for the weekend just gone. As i had 3days i could of been working on it in the sun. But nope.

What's next on the agenda after this monumental achievement?
Cheers, it's gonna be putting it back together for pv that will be the task.
After that, use and enjoy. Then swap F28 as mine is crunching in to 2nd. Wanna clean my bay up more too, engine loom and bits.. Maybe some more spoked wheels.. Who knows really.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps85c3e09d.jpg
Then had to move the car to the paint shop.. Was an interesting drive i tell you, no glass, no number plates, alot of dust blown in to my eyes.. Very bad traffic.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps5acf73eb.jpg
Bumped in to this one there...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps7fed6505.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps12f965bc.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psc434d56a.jpg
Then the car was sanded off, remasked to be painted. The bodyshop needed a hand, so i lent one to help them out and get the car done.. 7hours later we were on to mine. A few bits where missed, so these had to be sorted, finally ready.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psbea3d7e0.jpg
Keith found there wasn't alot of paint... So the car was based up in a Rover blue...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psa52841fe.jpg
Time to lay the Arden blue on.... 1 coat and he's run out. By this point my anger was a hulk level... With it in base i find a few more bits i didn't like..
So monday morning, i made a few calls and get 1lt of arden blue speeding it's way to me. It's in the bodyshop by 10am.
Bit's re done.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psbfc273a5.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps4dcc697c.jpg
As there was more paint, took my brand new bonnet in too.. (few tiny repairs done)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps72631861.jpg
So on with the blue... (Chris painting)

On with the lacquer, asked for a heavier final coat so i can flat and polish it right back.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps8b9ffeda.jpg
All done.... MMmmmmmmmm
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psf8461bab.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps9abee193.jpg
So Keith told me before the car when to the paint shop " the boy has hoovered the car out for you" sweet i thought, one less job...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps484ba614.jpg
Oh....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps6d99c426.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps8a338e0c.jpg

Painted inner pillars and bits..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps1b2d9db0.jpg
First job was to fill everywhere that had been ground off, welded and such with a wax sealant. I use the Comma "waxseal" stuff. Very good, has rust inhibitors and stuff. Two cans later... Spray it till it run out the bottom.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psb09b0425.jpg

Level 10.
Few ripples, but all going away slowly, have no sound deadering on the roof at the mo, so will be doing it after, hoping it will take some of the slack out of it too..

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psa1ef83c6.jpg
