My 1985 moss green xe'd gl!

Hmmm, not really sure tbh benn!
Times have been hard at work over the past 4 months or so, all overtime has been stopped, as well as bonuses etc, so what used to be quite a good job, has been poorly paid over those months, meaning the nova engine+bit+carbs etc have all had to go to make up the shortcomings.
Bit gutted tbh, but at the end of the day it's only a car i suppose.

Anyway, i have the following options,
1, sell as a going concern/rolling shell.
2, bang the original 1.2 back in, mot and sell on.
3, turn the 1.2 into a 1.4 using 1.3 crank and rods etc, keep and enjoy for a little longer!

However i recently purchased another nova, which is a little less rarer than this, and ripe for a few mods, so this may go whatever.

I'm at that balding 30 something stage in my life where I'm asking my self, do i really need a fast nova? And yes Graeme i really must get and do something with my sport!

Big shame to see it go if thats what you do.

Also if you do sell the shell i know some one who might want it.

Thanks mate, kind words. I've had an enquiry already on the shell, all i'll say is i'm open to offers, it can go if i think it's reasonable.

If you look at my mates wip thread Mikec123 1600 8vT you might see who's thinking of a new shell, lol not sure yet but i bet if he see's your car he would re-shell, as he loves mk1's.

Ah yeah i saw the carbs for sale, is a shame to get rid but needs a must.

If you have another nova that you wanna get in too then it might be easiest to sell this one on as is, i didnt know you had a sport??

And everyone needs a nice nova no matter what their age, or hair line...

i was nearly at this point, except had no work at all but kept with it and the track call is still together tucked away for when its gets a bit warmer.

I see where your coming from John but you built it, showed it and drove it. I personally think you did the car justice, I think most people have suffered losses of some discription as far as work is concerned. I think you should sell up and crack on with the sport and if need be wait til things pick up. Don't sell up completely though, I hated not having a car to tinker with in times of boredom

i think seeing as you know the shell well, i'd be tempted the throw a E/C16 in there and enjoy it..

Hmm, shell would make a cool mk1 track car :cool:

To many nice clean shells get ruined by being make in to track cars.

Sorry to hear that John, however Im in exactly the same boat.... bonuses and Overtime are currently a thing of the past. Hopefully things will improve before all us motortrade chaps end up out of work! Its a shame to see you've given up on the carb'd xe route as the theme would have gone great with the car but needs must etc. :(

Hi nick, yeah tis a real shame tbh, i really would have loved to have completed the carb conversion. But hey-ho, my family comes first.
Tis really rubbish in the trade atm, there's nowhere to go, as no-one has any jobs to offer, so i think i'll just sit tight and weather the storm so to speak.

As said it is a shame but family,houses etc must come first.. Im doing exactly the same jobwise and just going to ride it out. Theres quite a few dealerships up here that have shut recently unfortunatly which obviously means jobs are hard to come by to say the least. I'll pm you my address thanks for that!
