Well I've been busy working away over the past couple of days, and been working on the nova till 11pm tonight trying to get the engine to sit right on solid mounts, what a nightmare!! I will have to get some pics of where I was having problems, although one area was the rear gearbox mount which I've had to enlongate as most people seemed to have done, but my main problem was the front engine mount (drivers side) as it was under far to much pressure when bolted up tight, I need to put a spacer in between the mount and the bracket, will get some pics tomorrow t show this. Massive Thanks to Ernie who I called to get some advice off too, cheers pal:thumb:
Anyway a few pics...
Cleaned & painted the rear beam. Fitted new drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, bearings and fixing kit

Looking good mate.
Looks very clean
looking good Ian.
Hope my advise helped last night.
Me likes, almost there mate, are you coming to PV in it?
Scott
These solids sound like a right ar$e!
For the engine mount - did you have to put the bolt through the chassis like Adam did?
looks really clean mate
You mean he had to drill through the chasis leg to get a bolt in?? I didn't do that, I bolted it on loosely first and had to use a pry bar to tighten it as my spanners were to thick to fit up the back of it...Quote:

And as for the front gearbox mount, it can slide about between the two chasis brackets, so do I need a spacer in to stop it from moving? again it will be easier to see what im raving on about with a pic! lol
Thanks for the comments everyone :D
good work boss
really good thread
really good work
Looking good Ian. :)
I didnt have to drill anything, the holes are already there in the chassis leg..
So i assume the drivers mount i have was designed to be fitted like i did, and make use of the holes....

Yep, thats the hole i made use of :)
very good progress Ian, looks right at home in the bay :D
now its a race for you to get finished before James lol
you are slightly ahead of him mind, considering his isn't painted, nor has the engine in, and he still needs to take it apart again lol
lol i am behind granted but i did only start mine in January ah Ian :pQuote:

Not ideal I know, Need to get a spacer made up really, but they'll do for now!Quote:

You have more clearance than i do on the gearbox bolt/mount.
Comming along well well dude, love the hydo handbrake. Everything looks good in the bay.
Is there a particular reason as to why it needs spacing out?
Also, how come the rear mount needs elongating? noticed Stubbs has also done this? I've never need to do this, yes its tight, but surely you want it to be held tight in place?
Agreed there something aint right....good work never the less :thumb:Quote:

Looks good with the engine in at last. Bet it made you think its nearly done lol
Blue plug cover to follow the 'theme' of the block, perhaps with white lettering?

(crude photobotch attempt lol)
BTW - loving the build, can't wait to see the b.carbs in place, get it sorted ;)
Mine wasnt tight, it was impossible to fit :thumb:Quote:

The bolt should "clamp" the bracket to the mount hole to stop it moving anywhere, so it should be 'reet.
Quite a few others have had to do it too with solid mounts :)
Looking good Ian
Looks minted mate! :)
that will look the nuts whe its finished lol
I have had it bolted up without modifying or spacing any mounts, but there was so much stress from the rear gearbox mount that it was pushing the front gearbox mount right forward, and the drivers side front engine mount had pulled the rubber bush through in turn pulling the bolt head over so I couldn't get a spanner on to tighten it and had to use a pry bar... I just wasn't happy with the engine stressing all the mounts as to me if there under stress before anything is able to move then they can't do there job when there meant too.Quote:

Also won a set of R1 trumpets for the carbs off Ebay the other day, so other than waiting for my backing plate for the air filter to be made up I have everything I need for the carb setup
Nice job on the wheels
Not much to show, but thought I'd put some pics up anyway.
Test fitted the carbs onto the manifold and on the engine, Using the R1 fittings/Rubbers and my new R1 trumpets. Think they look mega in the bay! :D
Bit touch and go as whether the bonnet will fit on with the air filter on, but will just fit a scoop if not, but tbh, will probably fit one anyway!
Heres the pics
