We met up with Rich last weekend and while he was having curry with Niek I stole these from his personal GM warehouse:

Good thing to steal.
He replenished my stock with more better items :)
Not been on here for a while, main reason is that my dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer and metastasis beginning of last year. Despite two different chemo therapies in two different hospitals he didn't win his battle. He passed away January 9th way way to young at the age of 66. So this ones for you dad, RIP!!
Picked up the GSi this Saturday morning as the weather forecast was pretty good.
On my way to the lock up:

Sorry to hear about your dad,
Thoughts are with you and your family.
Sad news regarding your father, best wishes to you and your family.
I'm always thinking as I get older myself about my parents health, but I suppose I shouldn't and it's a way of life. Keep strong though and make a Nova in his memory... sad I know but holding on to something you could remember your dad by can only help :)
very sorry to hear, think of the good times and how proud he probably was of you!
p.s brilliant gsi you have :)

Cheers Barry, life is tough sometimes. But we'll manage...
Thanks! He deffo was. But he hated Nova's... LOL
As my RH door is beyond saving I managed to get myself a good RH door in the right colour (E265 tech violett as they call it over here).
Door is 98%, some small spots but it'll hold for some more years. I'm refusing to use one of my other doors at the moment.
How I got it:

How it is now, rub strip removed and clay barred:

Will be removing the rub strip residue tomorrow. Glass and rubbers will also be removed, I'll clay it again and give it a good buff and then some wax. Fit a new GSi logo and then I'll swap it over next week.
What's the best approach for drilling the hole for the electric window/central locking wiring loom?
Also got these for € 1,00 each bargain!!

Deeply sad to hear that news about your father - Your updates are inspirational to others.
Cheers Kev!
Yes my dear, valve cover seals...
Didn't know you could get rubber rocker cover gaskets!
They fit all 8v engines? Loads better seal than cork ones I would think
Edd i can get them for a fiver...
I think you have to fit a later rocker cover as they have round inserts that go into the seal and stop the cover being tightened down too far.
Think they only fit the later C16SE not the earlier E16SE...
The rubberised one again is used for the later rocker cover. I was told by a technician where I used to work to fit the gasket with grease. I did it and it has been on over 3 years with no signs of a leak so far.
So....
Started on the RH door yesterday evening (poor quality smartphone pics):

Nice work Jeff, been getting your hands dirty
Did the door pins come out easy?
I've got my drivers door to remove
They can be right feckers to get out - Jeff, praise yourself lucky you got them out in 2 minutes mate! When I had to replace the passenger door on the Red Shed, it took me the best part of an hour to bash them out.
