lol It's Iain damnit, stop trying to wind me up.
Just been out and removed the head, all looks okay to me, although I've not had that much experience of engine internals tbh! No bent valves or anything though.
Good news then Ian :)
Good work Ian. :)
Nice one Ian :)
Yeah Iain.
Bodywork is taking shape, one side is almost complete!
Rear quarter pillars and sill are almost there:

Bar the cake in that bore it looks fine.
Head needs a proper degreasing/cleaning, looks like its not seen an oil change for a while.
Should be sound when rebuilt up tho! :)
Yeah going to buy myself one of those valve compressor tools and strip it down and clean it up properly.
yeah its to wide and big lolQuote:

Removed drivers rear quarter today and got the arch tub in etch primer. Shedload of rust in this one so it's all cut out ready to replace.

Not so good!
But could of been worse..
Whats going on there at the bottom of the turret like bit? Is it a huge plate?
Not that bad, i've seen much much worse.
That rust on the inner arch behind the arch lip i assume?
At least its fixable :)
you have balls of steel lol good work buddy i just hope it come out hoq you wish !!!
Fair play for doing it all yourself. I was planning on doing mine but i pussied out on it lol
Other side looks a top job, as does the rest of your work :thumb:
Jesus - I've only ever done that much cutting when i know full well ill never have to put it back together again...
ouch. at least youve had plenty of practice with the welder now
Shame about the rot but at least you're going the right way about it.
Yeah it's a big plate Benn, I can't remember it needing to be that big but was done over a year ago now.
Yeah the rust is behind the arch lip in the splash guard/tub and on the bit that sits in the middle of the sill. TBH I'm not really phased by it now, just cut it out ready to replace lol
Oddly enough the thing I most struggled with was removing the plastic tube that the tank filler breather goes through - I can't get it out?! Needs removing as there's rust around that too. (In the picture of the etch primer on the right)
thats nothing lol
good progress iian
Some good progress on the engine today, with a nice visit from Draper to help me strip the head! :)
Head with valves etc removed:

Haynes told me to put these in oil so they don't drain?

Removed the water pump to find this! Nasty stuff, hopefully I clean it up nicely:

Got bored of the engine so decided to try the Corsa double joint on the Nova column, as I'm tempted to not bother with the power steering now. Much longer so should fit easily:

That is just why you need anti freeze!Quote:
