Not really, the welded on mount got moved from my first mock up. That's where my probs come from..
I had a C20XE A Corsa, but I still amazing this engine fit in the Novas/Corsas. Sometimes the v6 engine fit easier than the 2liter redtop. Must fight for every stere in the engine bay! :D
Way back when i first thought of doing the engine swap, i really couldn't see how the xe would fit.. Now there is so much room in them.
Christ it's been ages since i've updated this... Sure i've done more than this.
So the cars been going on and getting used. Which it needs to, trying to test the cv joint out.. Ok so far..
On the job... Doing a bit of mobile welding and grinding.

Now i'm really needing to improve my wipers. The Corsa set up was just sh*te. Got stuck in the rain a week or so back and it was a nightmare. Had to stop and remove the drivers one and set the pass one half up the screen to be able to see where i was going... All done under a bridge on the motorway, in the lashing rain.
I really want to go back to a Nova set up... Or a modded Nova set up anyway. But to mock up and that i need to remove the header tank, cant be arsed wit that at the mo. So i pulled out this, which i tried and didn't get on with.. So i set and fixing that.

Think it's AX one, but can't remember... First new mod was to move the motor, as it hits the fan motor and or the header tank..

Then refit, this time i've dropped it down after seeing a few people have done the same, seems to improve the angle that spindle sits through the scuttle panel...
Made a mount,

Welded nuts on the motor and back of the mount, to ease fitting...

Tested a few times and had to reset the linkage a few times, but seems to be ok, but a bit of a judder on the way over...

i like that mate :)
I just love this nova. Its been a long build and I know that you're not finished but its quality mate.
YOu at pvs mate?
The closer you can get the spindle to the angle of the screen the less the wiper will angle itself at either side of the sweep. Judder may be from that angle.
Cheers.
It has been a long time, but that's because back then i didn't do things well enough. Still a long way to go sadly....
And yeah i'm at PVs, either with Mig or with TV.
Yep i know, but that seems to be the best angle i can get.. Doesn't wanna move anymore... Think just a tiny bit would do it too.
Have to find your car and put a face to the car
Yes you should.
It's good that the joint's holding up; as well it should :)
You could find a straight arm to improve that conversion.
Yeah you would benefit from using a zx wiper arm, sorry I didn't bother to try explain more when you have asked about these set ups before, I didn't realise you were trying to use it fixed tight upto the scuttle..
Yeah, i keep testing it hard and harder corning. I just dont like the thought it might brake again.. Stops me really enjoying it as there is the worry...
I have been thinking about a straight arm... Making one shouldn't be to hard....
Finf a ZX might be tricky..lol If i cut and weld it i think i could get it straight enough and dont worry, yours is mounted the same isnt it?
Benn, what length is the arm from spindle to the wiper mounting point? I have a straight wiper arm that may be of use!
It's a Nova arm... Thank you, but this is only really a stop gap. I'd like both wipers on really... So dont really wanna spend out on this set up.
Took the sunroof cassette out today.

Best cut the roof off now....lol
brave man benn :thumb: lol
Ohh will it be ready for PVS??
Plenty of pics please of the roof skin removal.
Still have mine to do so interested how you get on.
I've always disliked sunroofs lol
A changed the roof on mine went from a non sunroof to a sunroof one there not that hard to do what you doin about the sides off roof welding or glueing mine welded but every one was saying glue it
Nah should be ok... Lol
Yep need it done and dusted this month really...
Ill take you loads of pics dont worry.. you know me.
Imh me too. Ive only ever opened it tilt wise.. so point less it being there too...
Ah you when the other way... Im looking at bonding it with just a few welds.
A wish a never now haha but it's done am not goin back
lol once its done it's done.
**** Benn that's some task to undertake! I'm looking forward to seeing some pics of just how much of a job it is!
When you think it thru, it shouldn't be. Wire bush to see welds, drill welds, remove, clean up, test fit, paint on metal bonda, spot in the shuts, check its flat, primer and paint, flat and polish to a mirror finish...
But that's thinking. Real world might be different...lol
Lol will be lots of pics don't worry.
how have you managed to take your headlining/cassette out without taking any glass out?
Stanley knife I presume as the original headlining would be no good with the new roof skin.
always thought he had a different headlining, but good point. lol
I was able to gently pull it and it came out from under the rubbers, ripped a lil but its really gonna go in the bin, so i wasn't to fussed really. But wanted to do it as nice as poss.
The headlining was one i had made yes.
Thought there would be pics tonight of Nova with its roof off!!!
Come on Benn what you playing at?
Will be stripping this week, ready to go in the bodyshop next week, dont wanna have to move it with the skin off.
One hard bit will be getting the boot hinges off....
For the hinge bolts I'd use one of those impact tools where you hit the end with a hammer and it turns as they are tight as **** and round easy
I did wonder if that would work, i've tried undoing some before and they where so soft...
you'll need some decent heat on the hinge plate bolts to remove them, can you not just knock the pins out or does the roof skin come too far down?
Skin is under the hinges....
