In the past month you just keep teasing me with the odd pic of yours please just throw a few in a thread lol

Yes, just like that. Pm me the info!
Hmm not 100% sure it's something french like a base spec laguna; I just searched for laguna splitter on ebay.
Hhhmm i'm on THE case! Get your project thread start too!
Small update.
Since the turbo swap i'm very happy to say no smoke at all. Boosts up fast and holds pressure better too. As per my other thread i'm still running std chips at the mo as the Ph2 where copies and gave me a few probs. But everything else is all good.
Now back in june i took a car full of sh*te to PV, in that somewhere the end of the boot side trims got broken, where it holds the parcel shelf up. The end had come off...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Boottrim21.jpg
Managed to find another set, thought i best fit it today. Back in 2003 when i got the car, the owner must of how the creaking plastics annoying, because he had jammed blu-tac everywhere to stop them. It didn't work, it just made a mess, while doing ones in the boot they knackerd most of the thread in the quarter skim, so while i was there i could repair the holes behind that hold the trim up.
So first drill out.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Boottrim22.jpg
Then to fit i'm using clinch/riv nuts.
Clinch nut in place... (i did all of them to be safe)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../Boottrim1.jpg
Fitted with the bolt fitting much better than before.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../Boottrim5.jpg
Clean everything up and fit new trim.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../Boottrim8.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../Boottrim7.jpg
While i'm here i might as well do the other side.
This first hole, the hole was so mangled the bolt would only go this far.. Funny as they are just holes with one turn of thread in them..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Boottrim17.jpg
Clinch nut in place, they wont just link a rivet. The outer of the back crushes down, leaving the middle where the thread it held in place.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../Boottrim9.jpg
Again, did all the holes..(mid way thru)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Boottrim10.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Boottrim11.jpg
Then this happened when i tried to do one up, wasn't crushed enough, **** hole to get off..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Boottrim14.jpg
Re done. Ready to refit. But as i do i wanted to make the speak cable routing tidier. Before,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ottrim16-1.jpg
To re route i made two holes here..(gromits fitted for tidiness)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Boottrim12.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Boottrim13.jpg
Then ran the cables like this..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Boottrim15.jpg
You may notice the damaged paint on the opening lip to the boot, again from PV and Billing. But it will be re painted before the trim is put back on.
Hoovered the boot out and cleaned up.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Boottrim18.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Boottrim19.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Boottrim20.jpg
Mucho better.
Then i had a huge slushy, as a reward.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMAG0349.jpg
Colour coded beverages, nice.
Blue is better.
Really good work Ben, when you selling me the blingy blingys?
But youve still not repainted that bloody strut brace :p
Bit of a boring update.
Found driving in the low light/dark that the headlight bulbs are just poor. I have "crystal white" ones. They are normal bulbs but are a bit cleaner looking..
So while at work and looking thru the Ring book for a customer who wanted higher wattage bulbs i found some 100w "Sports blue" bulbs for him and me...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...on/Lights4.jpg
So before fitting...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...on/Lights2.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...on/Lights3.jpg
While fitting..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...on/Lights5.jpg
Bluer, gives a cleaner light. I HATE yellowy looking headlights.. (old on right, new on left)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...on/Lights6.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...on/Lights7.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...on/Lights8.jpg
Know what your thinking, but when you stand in front of them, they arnt so bright to dazzle the car in front.. As i hate that too, hence why i binned my HIDs.
Not the best pic as mu battery was starting to get a bit low.. But they seem alot brighter. Needs a test drive now.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...on/Lights9.jpg
I always try to fit in 90-100 watt bulbs, as there bright but not as bright as hids.
nice that looks mate i had yellow ones they went in the bin i got 100w bulbs ;)http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1334825968
Nice, no one has any hot wiring issues then. Good to know.
Halogens with painted lens look really tacky imo, normal halogens look much better.
See i hate the dirty yellow look of normal bulbs. Always have, tried loads of bulbs over the years to get the cleanest light.
i got the rallysport ring bulbs 130watt in my cav n fogs not hot wire probs and they been in a year now :)
i got mine of the *bay under £10 and they are so much better then the yellow bulbs even my mum has got them in her golf :)
All good then.
So it was a beautiful day, clean skys so perfect time to take a few last pics... Then spend a few mins adjusting few pressure, car runs lovely. Get camera, have an hour pissing about as my batteries where dead, swap camera no memory card.. Final get sorted. Meet Petor, take a few nice pics..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMAG0414.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMAG0408.jpg
Leave to come home, Pete's in front in his Monaro.. So put up case, catching him powering in to around about and do same, chase down duel carriage way and in to round around. Power in and get a funny noise.. Let of and drive gently.. All ok. Nail it in to short left hand on to another duel carriage way... Letting off at end start slowing down... Really loud grinding noise starts... 3mins from home so carry on very gently, going up hill noise gets alot worse, pull over. Everything looks ok thru wheels and such................. No wait!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMAG0431.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMAG0432.jpg
Inner Cv again has ripped it's self to bit. Angle looks really bad there too.. Pi$S! Back to the drawning board there then. :(
Was going great till then.
What CV's you using? IIRC you are using them with big block shafts right?
Sorry to see this mate....... :( Sure youll soon have it sorted though. ;)
Nick.
Was just reading all this on "another forum" - What are the engine mounts you're using; are they metalastic or standard with PU Sealant?
I've had all manner of issues with that CV too over the years, but what it always boiled down to is the amount of tilt the engine & box endures under load. I was actually breaking competition mounts and had that shortest driveshaft machined to effectively lengthen it once inside the CVs to help. The rear mount bracket was strengthened, checked throughly for location via it's spacer, welded up and the mount itself was reinforced.
With the position now perfect I wanted bomb proof so it could take the abuse all day; fabricated a fourth engine mount at the front to the cross member. Not looked back since; you can actually feel the difference in handling due to the lack of movement now.
Very interesting ref the fourth mount
Pretty sure i've posted pics on this; made from an old lower arm bush too.
I'm using standard mount with Sealant in.
I think, well i know the mount is clearly still in the wrong place. As Lee said where i had probs before. I think its to low (gear box) So what i need to do it unbolt it, but leaving the rest on, get the box in the right place so the shafts are straight as mine point up a bit and i think this one might point back a touch still too. Then mark and re drill the mount. Giving the box the better hight.
Love the front mount on yours, very much like mk4 Astras use. I always wondered why it's not used on other cars.
Small update.
Stripped it all down, shaft came out leaving the cv join in there. Which i now can't get out.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...tandmount2.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...tandmount3.jpg
Now here i'm confused, Everything is intact. Cage, two balls where lose in the cv, other came out in the cage. Not sure why it broke?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...eAltbuild3.jpg
Spend the morning trying to remove the cv joint, cant get it to move at all. Bent a crow bar, broke my ball joint spilter. Still wont move. No clue now...
So moved on to the mount, to try and raise the engine.
Unbolting the mount,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...tandmount4.jpg
Took Lee's advice kinda, marked where the end needs to come off..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...tandmount5.jpg
Cut it off.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...tandmount6.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...tandmount7.jpg
The bolted both bit's back on. Because i'm trying to raise the engine i had to cut the middle out a bit cause of the old holes to get it to line up, so it looks like a real bodge.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...tandmount8.jpg
Worked out where everything needed to be, jacked it, checked it, re-bolded it, marked it, removed it, tacked it, retried it, removed it, welded it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...andmount10.jpg
You can see the hole in the middle. eek.
Then found i'd run out of gas, so the welds arn't that pretty. But this is more of a template.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...andmount11.jpg
Ground off.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...andmount13.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...andmount14.jpg
Rest is a page back.
Tested in the vice, seems strong enough.
Bolt it on, all fit.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...andmount17.jpg
Mark bolt holes, Remove, cut, weld, file.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...andmount19.jpg
Made a bit to fill the gap.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...andmount18.jpg
Test fit, file a bit more, weld bit in.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...andmount21.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...andmount23.jpg
Not pretty i know. But refit, all works, engine raised up about an inch and a bit.
Before,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...andmount25.jpg
After, might not look alot, but it is.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...andmount26.jpg
Now i've removed the mount, drawn it all out, so i can remove the back part (where the weldings been done) and make a new one piece side with the holes in the right place. But might give it to the metal fab guy i use as he has thicker steel and welds much better.
But the cv joint is still stuck in the box.
benn on the tigra we had to take the gearbox out and hit the cv out through the other side (only works if you have quaiffe though)
not sure if you do on yours, possible spline damage whre its spun but should be ok
chris.
Lucky i do. That's the last resort really. As the car is right over to one side in my garage due to room.
Assuming you are no reusing the inner cv....
Maybe tack some steel strip to the CV in a U type shape over the hole and then weld a bolt on in roughly the same orientation as the driveshaft and then bolt a slide hammer/puller onto it (if you have one) a good sharp shock should get it out of the diff.
Joff
No ive already build the shaft up with a new cv.
Bloody good idea to get the cv out! if i cant get a puller ill try that.
Cheers dude.

Top work as per Benn! Love reading this thread :)
Cheers dude. Not really tho, i didnt get the main job done :(
good work benn, has it put any stress on the rear mount at all? how does the motor sit now, as in level height/twisted in the bay?
i just looked at pics of where my box sits and it looks low like yours did to start with, wondering if ill run into problems.
Front what i measured at the start, i don't know i'd have to go back and check.
But tbh, in Simps guide, his mount is lower than mine.... So i dont know any more.
