Hi all, Well things went to plan and I got the car to work on Friday, One of our panel chaps removed the unwanted brackets at dinner time for me meaning I could crack on in the evening. Unfortunatly the weather changed around 430pm and totally holed it down completely soaking the car. (First time its been wet since billing last year! lol ) This slowed things down as even after leathering it off I didnt want to paint a damp car as some of you paint chaps know bagging up a wet car can cause the paintwork to sweat. This leaves marks that are a real pain to get rid of. So my plan was to prep the inside and mask it up ready to mask the outside of the car saturday morning once it had dried out etc. Here's how I got on.........
Unwanted bracketry removed....

Bracket areas cleaned up and filled (sorry next few are phone photo's and a bit dark!).....

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1241883028
With the bracket areas cleaned up I gave them a quick coat of primer and then a few coats of aerosol red as a body up for saturday morning. Then I pulled the car into the booth and masked the inside off.....

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1241883284
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1241883311
I also had to mask it so I was able to get access to the front of the rear seating area so I could paint past were the carpet will sit etc. Damn fidly! But just enough access to get the gun in at either side.....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1241883404
And a random shiny shot!.........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1241883481
That was how the car was left friday evening. I didnt get as far as I wanted but as said I didnt want to paint the car whilst it was damp. Least it will by dry for the next morning though. :)
Nick.
Back in work early saturday I got the rest of the car masked up and just had a quick scotch over the areas that had seen some aerosol action yesterday. (Didnt want any flaky paint later!) Once that was done a good blowgun and tack off and we were almost ready for paint......

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1241884128

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1241884170
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1241884310
I also stuck some masking bag into the drain holes to try and prevent unwanted overspray underneath the car and possibly making its way under the masking bag onto the exterior paintwork.....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1241884390
Then a quick go with this fella ( painters best friend!) and we were ready to go....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1241884562
All based up........

Then the finali being a couple of coats of lacqeur......

Looking uber shiney.......:)
haha looks orange in half of those pics, lol
My attempt at a few art shots!.........

With the inside painted I still had a thought there may be some unwanted moisture behind trims etc so I thought it best to demask the exterior of the car and let it airdry until tommorow when I can demask the inside and get the car home....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1241885312
And how the car was left until tommorow...

Hope you all like. Its the first time Ive had a nova almost fully stripped and painted on the inside. But I think it looks really well plus I've done a little weight saving! Lets hope I can put up with the noise! lol Thats all for today.
Nick.
Please stop posting pictures, im becoming extremely jealous and its putting mine to shame!
nice job Nick, looks cleavage-tasticlol
did you just fancy a change with the false floor, im doing one but in 2 halves as im mounting speakers where the base of the seat used to be! and the one above the spare wheel will inncorrporat a net for small bags etc but will be out to show the paint in the boot:thumb:
them pic's of the inside just seem to be getting brighter and brighter, nice looking car mate
nice very nice !!!!!!
Hey fella, Tbh Ive never been a huge fan of falsefloors its just taken me a few years to be bothered to do something about it! I think done properly the painted back ends look really well. On another note that cleavage of your missus's is damn stunning!! lolQuote:

Looking excellent as ever Nick! What's that Stat-Gun do, some sort of static charge to help the paint stick??
Also, I know all about the marks in the paint from bagging a wet car, I had to store mine outside when I was buildng it, and think the car cover trapped moisture against the fresh paint. How can I get rid of the marks, normal claying/polishing hasn't done anything!

It sounds like you may have the marks Ive been talking about... In short they are a nitemare to get rid of! But gently flatting the surface with say 2000 wet/dry and then using a machine polisher with an abrasive polish will get rid of them permanantly. Im sure Craig may be able to help you with it or if your ever in my neck of the woods let me know... I may be able to sort it for you. :)
Nick.
I found th only way of getting rid of the watermarks with to flat and polish them out....
Dude the insides look funking fantastic. Very very nice work!
Never seen a statgun before...
awsome.
looks very very nice
Very impressed Nick :)
Suprised you left the seats and cage in though
Just when I thought this car couldn't get any better.... It does. Your constantly making me think I real need to step things up a bit
Thanks fella....... To be honest for a little extra time masking up there was no need to remove the cage or seats as I felt I could still do a good job with them in. If Id have felt I couldnt they would have been out. Trust me If you didnt know Id left them in you wouldnt be able to tell. :)Quote:

Also whilst I was there I applied some fresh waxoil here and there. Followed by a quick vac out and it was ready for home! Anyhow heres some pics of the almost finished article just the quarter cards to go in followed by my fifth allesio as a spare once I get a tyre on it in the next few weeks.
