Lee, it's OK - Dan has already told everyone he has a new project.
He's already getting emails so you might aswell tell everyone
^^ lol lee with a small block , that would look funny
Z22 it you homo :thumb:
agreed with figgy, z22 it you raging fag. a reliable 200bhp with a normal looking inlet etc.
lol, Olly, your funnier than Aids!
Stu, it was tempting, but then im set up for an XE so seeing as money is tight it was the only clever way to go. When I put a hole in this one I may try the Z22 for a giggle.
Riggy, like id be able to look anyone in the eye after dropping in a micro lump! In your dreams sucker lol
EDIT and TBH anyone who still cant work it out from all the threads appearing in the for sale section needs a frontal lobotomy!
lol , that is a very nice engine matey , cnat belive he's goin to strip the nov :thumb:
looks coll lad
Progress made last weekend on a very nasty rainy sunday in the ghetto otherwise known as Walsall lol
Dan and I met up stupid early for a sunday and headed up to chris' where we were greeted with a nice cup of char and some unbelievably dreamy toast! Then the job in hand was attacked in earnest. Operation rip chris' nova to shreads, and then fight like schoolchildren over the resultant massive parts list which ended up all over the drive! The relentless peeing rain spured myself and Chris to put together the most complicated gazeebo in the known universe, only for it to stop raining once it was erected! Typical.
Anyway, here are some nice pics, or sad pics depending on how you look at it. For me its a bit of both, and its a shame the car didnt get a good innings, but needs must and all that!
About to commence the murder..

Murder commenced..

Ohh, that looks nice, im having it :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/DSC00278.jpg
Gone!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/DSC00281.jpg
Bits bits.... must steal more bits.. steal steal plunder steal etc..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/DSC00282.jpg
To show its discust, the nova sat on Chris while it still had a bit of life in its veins..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/DSC00280.jpg
Talking of life in its veins, its final act before complete flatline was to haemorrhage its life blood out the back all over the drive. Probably at least 6 or so litres of it while we were busy at the front lol
Anyhoo, Dan came away with an SCCR box, a FG bonnet and tailgate, and some big boxes of random stuff, and I came away with a quick rack and the piece de resistance...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/DSC00284.jpg
All i need to do before i stick it in the car is to have the sump off the old engine and rescue my baffled sump plate, thats if its not been mashed beyond all recognition by the flailing con rods!
Cheers Chris, was a fun afternoons mincing!
so, how long's this engine going to last for lol
look's like a northwest style mincing day :thumb:
Put it this way, if i put a hole in this one i imagine a certain person will be wanting to rip me a new one as well lol lolQuote:

'SHOW ME THE MONEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY '
lol
lol looks good boys nice to dee decent people having the parts :thumb:
looking good Lee :)
doing any more bits to it? or just transferring all your bits over to it?
Nice work lad's.
Good to see most of the bits will live on. :)
W0000t :) Just Rad and manifold to strap on!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/DSC00296.jpg
Just a quick thanks to dan who lent a hand, always useful, cheers pal. Also Dar popped up and helped us strap some tarp up to stop the icy draughts in the barn lol. Ta geezer!
Quick question... anyone seen a pully wheel like this on an XE? its smaller than normal, so a normal cam cover wont fit (or at least its a tad sloppy), and I have to get a smaller fan belt as well. I took the pully off and theres only three holes in the end of the crank as well! I could do with a cam cover that fits TBH
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/DSC00295.jpg
That is a waterpump pulley off something. That aint no aux drive pulley.
great progress Lee :)
so whens its next outing?
Dang, if id of known you were down near me, id have popped over and showed my face and generally minced about lolQuote:

Well i took the thing off and its attached to the crank the same way as a normal one is, but the face is curved and has 3 holes! Its uber odd, ill see if Mr T can shed any light on it lolQuote:

What system you going for Lee?
What was on the blue/gree/white one lol
I have an Ashley manifold which was supposed to go on the fecker the first time round when i ran out of fundage, ill then be taking the thing to the place Dar had his done, and having a 3 box straight through centre exit 2.25 custom system slapped on it :)
Humm do you think it's Defiantly worth it then the straight system?
Don't know if you have had a nosy at my JP one but it sit funny under there as it made to go round a normal gear linkage thats under the car,so im wondering weather to get it "modified" and moved into the tunnel more.
Scott
Looking well.
Is that pully some form of lightweight replacement? That you usually see polished/chromed?
Are you purely doing it for the noise factor Lee? I mean, is it not worth seeing or checking to see if it'll be OK first?
Just thinking, like you say - fundage etc :)
looks like the water pump pully off a 1.0
No its not, the 1.0l is a lot deeper than that. It would never go on.Quote:

He has other fancy bits to put on that will need a new system making up for. Plus the new maifold is a bigger bore than his current system.Quote:

LMAO Dar, your the gay who was mincing around with the tarp with Dan, not me. I was clever and looked after the 'smoking of ciggarretes' side of the job lol
Olly, im lucky in that I have a nightfire red Nova which i use as a development template. The exhaust on the 'development' car works well, so im opting for that. Im also waiting for my development consultant to work out what to do with the hubs as well lol lol
Oh, it'll work fine :) Im just worried about the cam cover, as i wont want a trip in the gravel with that lot exposed ready to lunch the expensive internals!!Quote:

He would have to make it to it first lolQuote:

Finished the engine install today with a bit of mincing involvng the Manifold (had to grind a small amount from one side of the flange to clear the thermostat housing)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../DSC002962.jpg
Oil cooler, radiator/fan, struts and brace back on
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/DSC00298.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/DSC00299.jpg
Also slapped some stickers on the bonnet as im pretty certain ill never be assed to paint it lol
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/DSC00302.jpg
Went to crank it but the battery's flatter than flat thing from flat land.
Just need to wait for Dar to pull his finger out of his ass and sort these hubs out now lol
Next week, its time to get down and dirty with the Wide Arch :)
Nice, nearly ready-ish.
How similar is the new engine compared to your old one?
Going be running it on the same map?
looking good chap! great work :)
do you run short trumpets then? going on the depth of your ITG?
how many zip ties?
goes like yee ol' nineties song tubthumpin this thread..
good spirited stuff
Adam, nope, Chris will be emailing me his map when he can be assed :) He paid a lot to have it done so I may as well use it lol Not overly similar TBH, my old engine was a revver, and this is more of a torque monster. Last one revved to 7750 and made 190 - 200bhp, this one only goes to 6900 would you believe it, and it makes 220 ish bhp! Christ knows what it'll do when i stick the yellow injectors on and take it to jamsport for a tweek! Estimates are around 235 ish :) W00t! Ive driven chris' car with this engine and i instantly fell in love, thats why i made sure I was always at the top of the list if he came to sell up :)
Peester.. Cable ties are the future ;)
Olly, yup i had the stubbys from new and never realy felt the need to change them. I know they make a small difference to the torque/ power split, but no plans to change em at the moment.
Cool, its making a lot of power at pretty low revs then (compared to most tuned NA engines)
Should go very well.
I assume the first proper outing will probably be Combe Spring Action Day?
