Primed and Painted (Well first coat anyway)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2446.jpg
Also finally sorted all the issues with brakes hubs and topmounts etc, etc... So built everything for the last time (fingers crossed!) Also decided to add some bumpstops to the front coilovers, for piece of mind really!
All built up and on its wheels

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2441.jpg
Quite happy with the ride height too seeing as theres no weight in the front yet and the adjusters have just been tightened to clamp the springs! plenty of room for some lowering
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...DSCN2438-1.jpg
Top mounts bolted in, with some threads left for strut brace.
Got the piston hrough enough this time so as the flats are showing to get the bolt tightened up
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2445.jpg
and finally a few random snaps...

I've been waiting for the update! Looking good Ian. What coilovers do you have on front? My avo's didn't come with any bumpstops either.
When's the engine being dropped in?
some really tidy work there ian

looks good ian, cant be much left to do now surely ????
Exactly the same one's mate, just thought i'd add some just incase, rather than fooking up the shocker.Quote:

Do you know when it comes to fitting it, i've read something about a lug being cut off the gearbox? can anyone shed any light on this or show some pics??
Draper: Trust me there's lots left to do!!
Cheers guys:thumb:
Woo getting there mate, keep it going.
Oh chuck out the old metal from under the bonnet before it gets knocked into that lovely paint work!
Scott
Good stuff mate :)
Did some work on the bike carbs, so as there ready for bolting up to the engine.
- Started off by removing the backing plates held on with 3 SUPER TIGHT cross headed scews
- Next was to remove the float bowls by removing the securing pin
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/Image065.jpg
- Followed by the main jets and filters
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../nova/Carb.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Image060-1.jpg
- Then I drilled out the jets to 1.5mm. (Standard R1 Jet on LEFT, 1.5mm jet on RIGHT)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/Image064.jpg
and then reassembled them making sure everything was nice and clean. I know that the jets are recommended to be drilled out to 1.8mm for a 20xe, however I thought I'd start slightly smaller so as when the car goes to be setup it can have the jets enlarged progressively to achieve the best results
Good work mate, though it looks for too fiddly for my liking! lol
Excellent work as always. You'll more than certainly have yours running before m so look forward to seeing the results!
Have you got any trumpets sorted?
Thanks dude, Its deffinately getting there slowly! lolQuote:

I did make a template last night for the air filter back plate so will need to get the trumpets soon to be able to fasten it on!! I want to use the 'R1' ones (or similar) as there designed to hold the filter back plate on too.

That was a bargain on the the rubbers mate, let me know if you come across some more trumpets ;)
I have an ITG one that I got off Olly a while back, just need to have the backing plate made to match the carbs.
Couple of pics

For trumpets just use some silicone hose, with DCOE 45 trumpets clamped in.
You'd get some r1 ones for as much as it'd cost to do that surely?? and they'd hold the filter in place, and look alot neater too!!Quote:

You not still got them have you?!
Thanks for the pics Adam
Aye, that was just a mock fit, i was going replace them with normal silicone hose....
Not got them anymore sorry, but Yamaha still sell them.
Ian, have you already cut your backing plate? If not I have the rubber cover off the bike that has the template for the holes. I won't be needing it due to respacing my carbs so more than happy to stick it in the post to you?
Sorry i've not replied sooner, not had chance to get on tinterweb!!Quote:

Update wise, not alot to tell, but the head and manifold ports have now been matched. Washed it all down and built it back up bar one valve as the spring broke off one of the stem seal when it was removed :(
Good job it was stripped again though as when washing it out we found some foil off the top of an oil can that had been in there a fair few years! Could have been bad news :wtf:
All sorted now though. No pics as yet though

Took a couple of pics of how it looks down the ports but they didn't come out, so will get some better pics before it goes in the car.
Awesome mate, cant wait to see it come together.
Keep it up.
Scott
Another xe on R1's, What managment are you using or just going for the dizzy set up?
Also the two pipes in the back of the head, i think one goes to the water pump thne into the inlet, are you just blocking this off?
Cheers Scott, I can't wait to see it coming together either!! lol :D
I'm just running the dizzy setup, just want to keep things really basic for now! As for water pipes on the manifold, I won't be running the top one, but am going to get some alloy pipe tig welded onto the manifold for the one that goes back to the water pump. :thumb:Quote:

Went up to see Ian yesterday and saw the car, looks better in real life :thumb: well done mate, its coming along.
Get all those pics I took posted up bud - regain some interest :D
Inlet manifold looks good, it'll make it breath-easier!
This should be finished by now shouldn't it? ;)
