Bad news mate hopeing it's not to bad you will be looking for a donor shell to get bits off probably if it's bad
I'll see what it's like then take it from there could very well be looking for another shell to cut up.
I hope it can be saved mate .
Thanks mate, it will be getting saved no matter what the cost though tbh
I went over to see the car in Saturday, it's not quite as bad as I thought bud still not great, the work starts in it today though so hopefully have some decent updates shortly :)
About time:roll:lol
Where's it gone to get welded??
It's a we place beside Stonehaven that's doing it for me.
Spaceframe it............
That nasty little tin worm been all happy in there little fat f@%3r did they give you a plan of action or some idea's on what there gona do
rust is lighter than carbon fibre lol
I've been thinking about it, will this still be road legal if I so it? I need to keep it road legal.
Going to use the repair panels I've got then make up rear inners etc going to be lots of modifying in the back end getting done. Like I've said above I have been thinking about space framing it.
Cheers, I'm going to have a proper look into I think it's the best route to go down. :)
It is however prohibitively expensive. Last time I looked (when it was a BIVA test you needed) it was about £1500 and if it didn't pass you'd have to go back and pay it again. They do like to change the rules classifications and pricing every once in a while though.
Any modification to the original chassis (i.e the monocoque not including doors etc) means it requires testing. Technically any Nova with a C20XE and the required alternator cutout requires retesting.
Due to the classifications, I couldn't find any other way except the "one off car build" that you can legally get a car on the road. Mine would have got a new ID as well.
If I remember correctly it was even very difficult to get it out of the class that something like a Caparo T1 (limited run manufacturer builds) would go through which includes emissions etc.
That's what i go on too^ 10points for a standard mot? I get two... hahaha
Thanks for the info guys, if I get someone to pass an mot for me would it ever be questioned from another mot station etc? Or would it just pass as normal?

G
Your jig is a lil eek looking lol
Good work on cutting the rust out.
That's some weight saving Bazz, I hope it all pans out for you on this build, it's going to be one expensive nova though when it's finished but my words it will be worth the hard work ;)
lol it's more sturdy than it looks lol best way to
keep it in the air since we can't use the spit for the time being lol
Not sure how much will actually be saved yet as the new panels have to be welded in etc but I'll be making a few changes with the boot floor etc, yeah I think it's going to cost quite a bit by the time it's finished but I think it will be worth it too :)
Whot like is boot floor and rear chassis legs silly qestion when you hopeing to have it on the road
It's not that bad and you got the whole front new anyway just standard nova spots I'd be happy taking that on seeing you have the pannels and the rear legs just need plates doing tidy and will be fine
boot floor has holes in it etc think I'm cutting out the wheel well as well. Chassis legs aren't that great. Hoping to have it done by the end of 2015.
yeah just gone in the usual places really, hopefully it all comes together well, got told yesterday it's almost ready to build back up so will be more progress over the next week or so :) buzzin!
You on fackbook baz
Nah not on it mate cba with it lol
^ yeah true just loaded the roll cage into my car just now ready to drop off for fitting :)
Sounds good to me, have you thought ahead to which insurance company your going to try and get this with if your wanting it road worthy btw as it's going to need a value for it.
I can do engineers report for it....had a lad ask about doing one for his 20let chuv-it?
^ text on route :)
Bin that front end and replace the lot, id give it 4 years tops before its needing rewelded
The rot between the seams can not be treated and once you cover it with cavity wax your fcuked, it will rot from the inside out. Cutting through the inner wing brace panels aint so clever either, you need them removed and the rot behind them cut out at the very least.
You have spent a fair few quid on the carbon bits so please dont over look the metal bits.
