Nice finish on the wheels Pete - not long now. Perhaps a shakedown run to Wales in order! lol
lol cheers. Wales shakedown can be arranged!
Looking to make an appearance to Combe in April too.
Well, the end is near!
Insured it last friday. Cracking deal from HIC.
MOT is booked at my mates place for the 10th march. Will get the monday off work to go to the DVLA to sort V5 and get the tax. Then drive time!!
Already arranged a drive out over easter with my mates (EVO 8, old school Porsche 911 unless he buys his new carrera, and a CBR 600!) will make a camera mount and get it in there.
Will be a momentous occasion!! Nearly ten bloody years!!!
Need to take some up to date pics for the insurance, so will post them here too.
Brilliant Pete, glad you've nearly completed it and by gum you will enjoy it :)
A stunning motor so well done.
Cheers.
Also i have put my name down for Castle Combe on the 28th of April!
Common mate Ive been waiting 10 years to see this car built! lol
Pete make sure you get a camera fitted for in car entertainment ;)
And Scott congratulations on getting the England captain job lol
lol the wait is nearly over Scott!
Love it mate. Just read it from the start and the work you have put into it over the years is amazing!!!
I am hoping for an invite for the initial road trip with Rich/Ben etc...!
Will, I have just text rich.
Benn, apparently you take a ticket and wait your turn. Cant see why they can do it there and then.
Oh didn't know that.
Its on! lol
I may have the silver one out, but it will more likely be the saloon
Mint!
Cant see why?
My mate (Rich) helped me fit the engine. Its Rich's garage and he is doing the MOT. He will also write a letter with the engine number and that it is to a satisfactory condition. lol and so it should, he used to do engine conversions for a living!!
This along with all the other docs should see me right.
I ment like i did which was fit my own and just fillthe V5 out and send off...
lol No.
How long ago did you change your V5?
Now you need evidence. I tried to fill out the new number and send the V5 back. Got it returned with a letter.
Yep, mine got returned with a letter, but I knew an mot tester that has his own company doing rally car prep work so he did the mot, checked it over and for a few quid he wrote a letter with his company name saying it was fitted properly/ safely and that it had bigger brakes and suspension to cope with it.
Rolled her out today so i could get some up to date pics for the insurance...

She is running rough as hell at the mo. But today was the first time i have started the engine since waaaay before crimbo. Also not alot of fuel in the tank. Took the plugs out and cleaned them off. Will get some new fuel this week ready for saturday when i can give her a run and clear those cobwebs :d
Looks awesome dude, almost retro styling now! lol
Just need to get the side skirts on and take the fuel cap back to my mate. lol he had it for paint, but was sat in the top of his box and he forgot about it!! Need it for the MOT.
Looks stunning dude.
Very very smart buddy

Great thread, put a lot of sweat and tears into your baby. Am still in early stages of my rebuild, but hope to take the same path as yourself. Hope to add my thread soon!
Yeeeehaaaa.....wooohoooo..etc.
MOT today and she passed. Few issues lol on the way there found out along the dual carrigeway that i only had 4 gears and a seriously high idle!!! Nursed it there in 4th. At 55mph!!
Once at my mates, got it up on the ramp and adjusted the linkage. And sorted the tracking as that was way out.
All sorted. Nope...went to oull out of my mates gargae....in third. lol i now have 1st where reverse should be, no second and now i have 5th. More adjustment needed.
But on the whole, it runs sweet, and once the linkage is sorted let the fun begin.
Pics...
Start them young...

Well done mate!!! Chuffed for you as i'm sure all the other followers of this thread are! Painting the underneath was well worth doing, just gotta keep it clean lol
Get those few bits sorted and enjoy!! :d
Are you going up in it tomorrow??
Nice one !
I hope to get mine done soon, not been waiting as long as you tho lol
Cheers guys.
No, afraid not Will. Need some tax before it can grace the tarmac again. See you later?
BOOM.
Half an hour in the DVLA office this morning resulted in me walking away with 6 months tax! WIN.
Managed to find my missing gears too.
Finish work at lunchtime tomorrow (love fridays) so fingers crossed this good weather hangs around so i can put a few miles on!
