Whats hanging down under the car in the photo before the 2cv pic?
Trailor is looking good, small rope needs upgrading tho..lol
It's the fuel tank vent, I've got a pipe on order to tuck it up out the way.
Trailer winch rope is rated to a straight lift of 1350kg, given that I can sit on the floor and pull my car along is say the pulling force required is only 150kg max so we're 1100kg over spec!!
I do need to make a bolt on cover to shield it from the worst of the weather!! Got a few weeks off in November so got some stuff planned!!
With your car as it is now, adding +1 degree of negative camber could help you in sections like the goose neck

Thanks for the input Mr Ghost, Iain and I are planning a setup afternoon at his place before our day at Donnigton in November. It's the one area I haven't really paid too much attention to!!
So the November trackdays are here!!
Yesteday was Snetterton.
In an effort to get Iain there I booked him on despite him telling me he couldn't make it.
Friday Iain decided he did want to go, he's such a girl.
Loaded up at 4pm Sunday ready to go.

We got a Premier Inn and hoped for a few shandies before turning in but the pub stopped serving at 10pm, what is all that about, East Anglian weirdos.
We had a little snuggle watching 2Fast 2Spurious or whatever it's called.
Got to the track at 7am and got unloaded into our garage.
Got my brakes bled and found I had a slightly loose bleed nipple on one of my rear wheel cylinders!! no wonder I had a spongebob squarepants pedal.
Didn't really get any pics during the day.

I'm sure Iain has got some hilarious videos from the afternoon but I ran out of battery, a problem that will be rectified for Donnigton with the addition of a 5 metre USB cable for charging operations!!
Little video, following Iain was fun, I spent more time laughing at his sideways shenanigans than concentrating on what I was doing!!!!!
https://youtu.be/84_cN7hVkq0
No doubt the scooby doo found this hlarious!!!!
Added the internal view to this little video, mirror is being ditched for Donnignton.
https://youtu.be/zctwm6P6YZU
It looked bloody wet out there, how much were you and iiiiian trying? Shame it wasn't dry as I'd love to see Iain kick your arse lol
Trying hard but very little grip so looks like were pootling unfortunately. Had some good drags up the straight though!
Iain's a faster driver than me, I've no problem admitting it, he's also built like a racing driver, where as I'm built like a bouncer. Distinct weight advantage!!
We were trying believe me, it was absolute carnage, braking was hit and miss, both of us missing corners due to lock ups, I was faster than Iain in the wet, we found out my rainsports are rated A for wet grip and Iain's Toyo's E rated, massive tyre difference accounted for the estimated 2.5 to 3 seconds a lap I was ahead. Once infront Iain coudln't keep up!!
That being said I do enjoy following him in the dry as I learn what corner speeds are possible. He would kick my arse without doubt, at Cadwell in the dry he was 5 seconds a lap faster than me!!
Enjoyed the video of you two giving it 110% round Snetterton. Excellent stuff. Have been round the TT Assen track a couple of times in the wet (downpour more like) on a motorbike so I understand how much you must have been struggling at braking and turning. Top entertainment lads, thanks for sharing. :thumb:
Thanks Niek!! It was a lot of fun!! Hoping Donnington will be better this Saturday, hopefully get the dry tyres on and ditch my rear view mirror completely so the internal video looks better!!!
Also, I was amazed that the tyres had temperture in them and were hot and sticky upon returning to the pits!!!
That looks hilarious, I can see why you were laughing so much, especially when Iain heading off across the grass, thank god for lots of green run off!
Must say I prefer the 'In-Car' to the 'On-Car' footage, for one the sound is slightly better, also you get to see the driver at work and so get a better idea of just how hard he's working for our entertainment.
Looking forward to the interior mirror free footage coming to a forum soon.....
The outside footage was for Benn, he was crying about the rear view mirror being in the way!! haha
Might make the outside camera rear view for a different perspective!!
Snow at Donny Saturday sure to be some shonky shenanigans!!!
Went down to see Jay and Darren @ Modus today to chat some chat and admire Darren's new light weight look!!
Also dropped off the new Helix clutch and the most expensive bolts in history!!
Darren's been playing around with measuring the CR, neither the block or the head have been skimmed/decked yet as we're not sure how much may need to be removed.
This is a new block after the one I recovered from we know where had a different 5th main cap that just didn't look right so this is the back-up block, bored, honed and dummy build cleaned, Darren isn't happy it's clean enough yet!!
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...77AA5D356F.jpg
Crank has also been re-ground as it was in a dreadful state, not been polished yet as it still needs balancing.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...5DB722AF97.jpg
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...78795DDB64.jpg
Has been nicely shot blasted and Darren is happy with it.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...EF4F81AFD6.jpg
Rods and pistons all balanced up to within 0.1 grams.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...81DE84DA51.jpg
Head has been pressure tested and they're happy, chambers CC'd and all 4 match up, both Darren and Jay are really impressed with the chambers and ports, finished to a really high standard which is good.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...7E2A42B75B.jpg
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...6BD325DFD3.jpg
Jay has taken some weight out of the flywheel, just need to dowel it before balancing.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...C81F90AD26.jpg
Now I mention balancing, sneek peak at Modus' new balancer, impressive bit of kit, they balance evey crank that they work on, whether specced or not.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...14B4D6E4CC.jpg
I wasn't allowed any closer as Jay is very protective. Darren is concerned that he's in the little room with the balancer a bit too much, I didn't get a pic but it had an Audi V8 crank on it being done, mine is next now the clutch plate is there!!
They should be making some real progress now, few weeks and there should be some more head building pics.
In other news,
Bought some of this flooring from Halfrauds, sick of lying on the freezing ground on the drive, will be handy when the whole car comes apart next week and lying on my back cleaning underneath up!!!
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...8FAFBCDE42.jpg
Did a quick oil change and swapped my ARB round as Iain took great pleasire in telling me I had it round the wrong way!! Oil looked ok, got it all loaded up ready for 4am start tomorrow.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...9E26995823.jpg
Thread name changed as requested ;)
Even got a smiley face!!! Now I feel special, more special than that weirdo Iain!!!
Cheers Mr Southie!!!
Popped to Donington Park today as House and Iain were doing their thing.

They seemed to be enjoying the man loving with each other so I left them to it.
Good project this just read it all from the start.....more dramas then a episode of eastenders lol
Thanks Mr Jolt, it's hardly a ground breaking project but I'm having fun, ironically going to the garage to try and avoid the drama of Eastenders and Corrie!! Fail!!!
Good day today with Iain and a few guests!! Vids to follow, some pics to follow too.
End result is left home at 4am, drove 340 miles, spent 6 hours tearing round Donnigton, ate a cheeseless pizza (That blew Iain's mind) just got home at 23.30.
Diff is properly cream crackered, gear shift is crap, need a Quaife ATB and a Hockly direct to turret shifter. Big updates coming, busy week of destruction ahead.
Can't wait to see how this develops over the winter months it's going to be an epic spec soon.
To add to Harvey's pictures, here's a video of me trying to keep up with 'House on a mission' towards the end of the day yesterday.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMwXd3tV3BU&feature=youtu.be
You can see you're not even trying following me!!!
You're car is so much more stable than mine and you're inputs on the wheel look so much more controlled.
I'm going back to playing cricket!!!
Little vid unsuccesfully chasing Iain, normal service has been resumed, he's so much faster and more stable in the corners!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCOU8SKJE70&feature=youtu.be
I had my mate Mike with me all day, he's good for confidence and gave me some great pointers for picking up speed, also learnt some great tips on consistency regarding braking points and turn in markers. Was a good day!! I'm just not quick enough!!!
WTF is a cheeseless pizza? That just sauce on toast.
Love being able to see you holding it right up in the revs thru the corners at about min into the vid.
Hi House 1983 if your going to be hitting the race track's regular a Quaife ATB is not the best choice by a long way.
Had a day off school today so decided to get some stuff done.
Dash out, all wiring out, getting renewed, haeter matrix gone, blower fan ditched.
Made an attempt at fitting my new pedal box.
Similar to seat mounts, I added a load plate to the tunnel.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...51A1F5A7E6.jpg
Then bridged across the car with some 3mm flat bar I had in stock
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...1C01001AC4.jpg
Then offered the pedals up and worked out where the top mount needed to be
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...8EA50E0C1A.jpg
Made a little bar up to span the top
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...018644049D.jpg
Added a spreader plate in for the top onto the bulkhead, didn't feel it need on on the left hand end.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...B78686876F.jpg
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...D23A3C05DC.jpg
Pedals drilled and tapped with 6mm fixings for now to facilitate easy set-up and cable running, clutch cable attached and working, same with the throttle. Just the lines to make a start on now!!
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...DCE6A92BD8.jpg
As I've ditched the heater I plated the hole and have decided to mount the resoviours there, not straght yet, need to remove it all for painting anyway!!
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...94CE7EEFA9.jpg
Need a 90 elbow to make the hoses neater out of the reoviours.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...2AD9F0A9D4.jpg
Engine needs to come out so I can run the new lines across the car properly and plate up the old servo hole. I'm looking for a portable snad blaster so I can blast the bay and re-paint it.
It has to be a plate diff, most of them are good, I use a Tran-x on my tarmac rally car.
ATB's don't lock the diff to giving you two wheel grip but transfer the power from one wheel to the other.
Yeah I had a chat with a guy at Donny Saturday about this very thing, I'm not decided yet!! I've just had a look at the quaife Tran X one and there are loads of options on ramp angles and pre-loads, any advice?!
Also, having read through Lee303's project on MIG he's changed the plates 2 or 3 times, that puts me off a little, how do you find them for wear?!?
I like the ATB fit and forget idea!!!
Pics to do the talking.
Started at 9.30, by 11.15 engine was on the trolley in the garage.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...CCE54F5DB9.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...AAA9849F8A.jpg
Was easy really, dropped all the suspension out as well, so that can be cleaned and painted, need to pate the wishbones and then get them powder coated along with the suspension and driveshafts. Next jobs include removable slam panel, degrease and clean everything up then paint the bay again.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...1F6B8C209E.jpg
Pretty tidy under there, nothing to really cause any concern, will be degreased and then undersealed.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...2CDCF9B7ED.jpg
Decent pedal box welding penetration!! happy with that.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...624F4F0270.jpg
First time in 18 months it's been left outdoors and under the cover!!
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...DF4F09DF0F.jpg
All the bits in the garage ready to be cleaned and checked, think I found what my whirring noise was, passenger inner CV pulled apart when I took the hub off!!
Thanks mate,
Elf called Quaife today to ask about a plate diff, having heard our applications they told him to stick with his ATB as he wouldn't feel the benefits of a plate over an ATB in what we do.
I'm don't know what to do, got a few months before I've got to decide!!!
Little confused, here's a Quaife web page talking about Tran-X diffs, explain please. http://quaife.co.uk/quaife-products/...-differential/
Looks like Quaife have bought out Tran-x and going to run it down
