i just meant that why would he be jelous?? he took it on got panels and got offered a better shell and sold greg it. The point is he left the site due to the constant arguing etc, imo the club has went down hill, fair play to greg for sticking at it. Us scots dont get a look in unless ur "scene" but since greg posted saying vaughan couldnt get it confirmed, everyone said he is being jelous etc, maybe a bit late to tell someone that but if its been confirmed before why the big worry. Just my opinion.

Got photos of the bottoms of sills and under the arches now that they have all been protected..

Still not 100% sure if i will be painting the car or not. I am going to do inside and underneath. Want it too look spot on, but i really would like to be able to say i have done eveything myself when it is finished.

haha, the most bitched about car on the site possibly? crack on it with it a say greg, its come a long way from when a saw it in august. n when its done i'll maybe pop down n have a wee look at it.

As said before boss, well done on the progress so far and I can back up that the shell is 100% genuine! Chris had it confirmed before me and I spoke to Andrew about it after buying it.

I wouldn't hold your breath for having it reconfirmed. He's misplaced a lot of his stuff since they got a new computer system in the heritage centre and updated and digitized a lot of records. He's also not as easy to get in contact with as he used to be since his wife died. Priorities I guess

Would quite like to come up one weekend for a look now we're pretty close by if you wouldn't mind? And if there's anything you want to know, feel free to ask as me and Chris know a lot more about the car than Vaughan does!

Connor, not decided on the engine spec yet..

Will certainly not be standard sport spec though, will probably end up doing pretty much the same as my nova rally car engine.

Will defo have as much headwork as possible, Cam and the 40's obviously. Not sure on bottom end though, might try source a set of Forged pistons and get the crank etc lightened/balanced. Not sure yet.

Gearbox wise it will probably be an F13 with 4.5 Crown Wheel and Pinion for that bit more acceleration.

Once shell is painted and rolling, i might start worrying about engine/box but got alot more than that to worry about.

Got a wiring loom to source and a roof lining etc to fit. not lookng forward to that!

will you really need forge for that spec dude? surley you can run standerd ?

will be watching this one till its finished greg, you got some real good skills. And regarding the paintwork, you may aswell give it your best and if your still not happy with the final result, you can always get someone to blow over it again :)

If you manage to source some forged pistons I would be interested, especially oversize ones to take a 1300 to 1400cc.
You can use forged rods from a X16XE or X14XE on the 13SB crank, they are the same length but the little end bearing is a different size. I think later 1400 8v pistons will fit the smaller little ends but I dont know of any forged ones available.

If you were closer I would have fit the roof lining for you. I love doing them and have fited a couple for members on here.
Also love doing wiring, could even remake the loom if required.

I am led to believe the way forward is a 1.3 crank, in a 1.3 block, with the block bored to take early 1.2 pre-fuel injection sb pistons attached to the 1.3 con rods, giving a combined CC of 1440 there or there abouts. I know of a few peops building the likes of this engine. or alternatives using a 1.4 crank-rods-and piston set up in a 1.3 s or sb block to give an oversized CC. Early 1.2s with Carbs had the biggest piston diameter in any of the GM small block range. In saying that the 1.2sb incorperated a large piston with a short stroke. Match the piston from a 1.2 sb with the stroke of a 1.3 and you end up with a stroked, overbored 1.3... I intend to build a tuned 1.3 sb, but currently run a blue printed C14SE on carbs in my rally car.

epic project and a great read greg,only thing if your painting the underside and arches white would it not have been better to have used white gravitex.

Standard 12ST pistons in a 13SB bottom end takes it to just short of 1400cc, it gives a few extra cc than a 14NV/14SE(1389cc) etc which is advantageous for the upto 1400cc class in rallying.

no mate, too busy with the rally car.

just spent 2 grand on 180bhp 1400 engine for it, then i had to buy better driveshafts that came to £900!!!

No spare time or money for sport just now, but dont worry..i am keeping a hold if it and will crack on in a few months time.

180bhp, sorry to sound doubtful but thats a big power figure for a 1400(I assume an 8v).
Whats the spec on it?

From an 8v it's very doubtful but there are loads of 16v 1400's making more then 180bhp.

its a suzuki engine in his rally car, last time i saw it anyway. 16v
