right ive just bought ernies nova i have been given a c20xe lump for nothing but its too common now so was thinking about putting a honda civic type r engine in instead i just want to gather some info on it as over parts i could use to fit it ie gearbox,driveshafts,mounts or is it not worth doing

I would think it would be alot of work, vaux-vaux engines work easy enough, but honda-vaux might be a tad tricky.
Custom mounts, shafts etc. but it would rock!!

Why not get a bike engine and put it in the front, that would be 'different' and also would be light, rev like billio and would also be much more intresting. Plus modify it, turbo it and get 500bhp:thumb:

Have you ever removed a Honda engine? You should see the size of the fecking wiring loom!!! Let alone the problems your gonna have with the transmission!!
For a start, Civic engine mounts are in mega different places to a Nova, youd need to place a mouting onto the passenger side inner wing to mount this engine in a Nova. Of course, Nova inner wings are made of cheese.....
Then theres rear mounting AND rear stabiliser bar thingy that goes under the gear shift tunnel, that bolts onto the chassis, with some **** off big bolts!
PS. If you think a GM v6 engine is heavy, then think wrong ;)
have a look at chris astley corsa vxr into a nova, that looks hard enough, and itd diffrent enough! lol
The work involved would far outweigh the fwoar factor you will get when the car is stationary & the bonnet is up for some 15yr old lads to have a look at it.

For the price of a Honda Type R engine, guesstimate ?800? and all the custom fabrication shafts, mounts etc, youre going to be looking easily at the wrong side of ?2k. For that price you can buy or build a 200bhp XE, same as Type R lump.
It will also take 10 times as long, plus you already have an XE engine, its common as you say, but the reason its common is because its such a good conversion to do.
If you genuinely are looking into it, then best of luck, and we'll help you as much as we can, but it will be a lot of work and expesive!

My freind paid ?600 IIRC for a Civic VTi engine (one down from the Type R) he was bidding on a EK9 (B18C? engine IIRC) engine and it went for a little over ?1k :thumb:

y not try something different,my teacher when i used to go to college had a couple of moriss minors and he had a type r enigine one and a 2.0 litre pinto engine in the other ,.......
B18C6 is UK DC2 typeR 187bhp
B18C5 is JDM DC2 TypeR 200bhp

there is a mk1 golf with a type R engine in. However if you are asking for info on the conversion then yuo clearly arent capable of it, no offense. You are either good techically or not.
Why botehr when you put a let in for no effort an no doubt cheaper, when you done making custom parts. The type R engine like said rotates the opposite way in relation to other engines so that ****s up your gearbox side of things.

I don't know why theres so much attitude on this site, the chap was only asking whether it would be possible, people on here seriously need to chillout! And the funny thing is if the engines were cheaper and easier to fit everyone would be doing it instead of fitting XEs or LETs all the time.
