46K miles, FSH + all previouse mot's, regularly wax-oiled = one very clean metro :d
love it , theres one for sale near kircubbin in NI i pass it alot on the way to portavogie if my nova was finished i would happily sell it for one for a metro .

Thats the route im going hopefully, 1380cc low comp 16v turbo if all goes to plan ;) Should be getting the bottom end sometime this month.
Nice purchase mate! A mates mother used to have a yellow GT-a, hers had red belts though, is there an 8 and 16v version? I remember there being a difference somewhere lol.

I'd kill for a yellow GT-a, saw one sell on ebay for £1200 IIRC, the austin metro's were a-series engines the same as minis, all 5 port 8 valves. The later Rover metro's were GTA 8 valve 1.4 and GTI 16 valve 1.4. all good fun to drive but i just dont like the look of the later ones, they they do accept VVC's and Vtec engines easily ;)

Yeh they are stupid fast, eat an XE nova. We put a 1600 16v in a 1.1 rover metro last year and took it up J27, great fun and wound a few big boys up lol

There's an old skool wooden carb tuner/garage around here that still claims to do hydrolastic suspension refills! lol
Some boyo years back had a white sh1tter with GTa kit and a VVC with n o juice in the suspension. Looked awesome, but I bet it drove like ar$e lol.
I've been cleaning the loft out over the weekend and happned across Transformers, Lego, Construx, Duplo, Matchbox etc but finding my Mighty Metro Scalextric made me smile lol

Wow old skool dude, i used to have a metro GTi for a while obscenely quick for a 1400, there was a lad round here a while back with a 1800 vvc metro GTi that was played with and used to pass scoobies regularly lol
Novafusion has a pair of these round the corner from his house, two brothers own them, ones an 1800 vvc on throttle bodies and the other is a turbo iirc im sure he will clarify:thumb:

I like these. When I was looking for my first car I was looking for either a Mini, Metro GTA or a Nova and bought the first nice one I came across which happened to be a Nova. These disappeared from the used ads almost overnight after that.
Ah shes a beauty gunny!! i love these old metros, probably because of my love for the mini and A series engine as you know! what head are you going to use? i here people are using the heads from an 1100cc bmw motorbike, maybe something for you to look into? i think there maybe a guy round here selling a metro gta been on his drive for a while now.
Cheers guys, Ben, since you pointed me to turbo minis ive been looking into the 16v K1100 head, its an idea but ive not decided yet, looking at the cpec i want, with a 16v head im looking at 200+hp easy. Thanks for the pointer dude those guys really are helpfull like you said, they've cleared up everything i wanted/need to know.

A good mate of mine has a 215bhp Metro GTi. 1800VVC with ITBs etc etc. Eats most things on the road.
