Nice car...
How does it qualify for Concours, with strut brace, ally headder tank and cesaros?
I say Concours, it was about the most standard looking Nova on the scene back in the day, very clean from what I remember.
Dec
Yeah it's still tucked up in his garage..
Chimp007 uk - It qualifies for Concours as it won quite a few trophies a few years ago and was/is in showroom condition, well better than that!
Have you ever actually seen this car?? If you had you may understand why as years ago it was one of the cleanest standard novas around and won a fair few trophys for it iirc!Quote:

Fair does. I always thought concours was standarder than standard. Genuine wheels tyres the lot, thats all.
Sadly I haven't, and I was doubting how nicer a car it was, or the fact that it shouldn't have won competitions... I was was questioning the "idea" of concours.Quote:

Excellent, some competition lolQuote:

In the old PNG days there was different classes for concours, standard and modified, and for alot this car was standard, all standard parts are there to put it back to standard.
Dec, Ian lives along the road from me and I've seen the car earlier in the car, it's not been touched for a few years now, but he is planning to get back on it at some point...
Looks nice, braided hose for the rad/header tank hose? Nice touch.

R,
Dec
Cheers for that! Everytime, friends of mine have been building cars up for shows, they've been going for completely standard and saying its concours. Not being a shower, i didn't know... Cheers for that!!Quote:

Here's some of the last pictures taken of it before it was taken off the road, around 2002 I believe at the PCC National Weekend and the Total Vauxhall Shoot.

I think a few people have different ideas on what makes a concourse car etc as said previously, My idea would be something that is exceptionally clean and well built be it standard or modified.
For one I'll be looking forward to seeing Ians car again however I imagine yours is going to take some beating though Dec!
Aye he's on JOV as well - I think the thread is called 'The Paperweight' ?

Dec, got some pics from around the 2002/2003 mark which i think was around the last show's it went too. There was talk of getting it out for the 25th aniversary but dont think ian could get the car to his standards in time for billing!! Hope to see it next show season though.
i'll check for some pics and post them up! ( just been trying to post the same pics Andy has) should have some others
Matt..
Wasn't there a very similar gte at pvs this year? A Girl/Lady owned it? I'm probably wrong and well off the mark
www.novalution.co.uk - I'm sure theres some pics of it on there :)
I should really update that site..... :eek:Quote:

Yeah the Heatshield was custom made by spec-r along with a few other bits and pieces.
Absolutly love it. Made my year seeing that! lol Any more pictures?
Would be awesome to see it at Billing next year.
this looks extreemly tidy!!!
Concours has lost a lot of the real concours these days.
A guy i know won it at usc, and the car was never clean, still have compound splatters in the shuts and on rubbers and the hood fabrick.
The vw boys still do it much better tho, where if its not clean and perfect thenits not even put in the draw. Doesnt need to be standard, but have to be more minty than a polo factory and more clean.. Well ultra clean. Like Decs.
thats probaly the cleanest gte ive seen,im nowing getting lazy lob thinking about itlol shhhweeeeeet
Ive never seen this before, looks very clean indeed, And to think Neil white thought his gte was the only best around. looks like it was close between them
Wow thats a blast from the past! i love this car!
Whatever happened to the other guy who had a white concours gte? Niel someone?
John the guy that posted above you bought his car.
Ian, Neil White and Garry Hope (K95VHD) were all from the same time and regularly competed against each other at the shows.
ah, cool. Might have to go and check his wip to see how tidy it still is.Quote:

this may sound a bit of topic slightly, but ive always thought this,id love to have seen my car in the flesh when it left the factory, all the shiny bits etc.:( ,put some pics of your up bigs, white gte mmmmmm:)

shame because it would look so much better with std and factory 'clean unpolished' aluminium parts.
some scroats probably bought it, cut the back floor out and attempted some half baked-never-to-be-finnished RWD project :(
or dropped the engine fitted an XE and hammered the chassis legs to get it to fit.
:(:(
Meritlover - As I've said earlier in the Thread, Ian still own's the car, it's still in his garage, pretty much as it was in those pictures and as said, all the standard stuff is there to go back on. Well apart from the Airflow meter, inlet manifold, throttle body and most of the other shiney bits that are hand polished!
Best get all the VW concours boys to put their concours cars back to standard...
ye i think for the good of a true concours contest your right.Quote:
