to a slot drive so i can put a different distributor in there?
is this so you can run carbs?
either put a carb version cam in so you can run a carb dizzy, or you could use the spi type of dizzy/ecu but not connect the injector/fuel pump etc.....
well this is the problem im having - there was a mk2 1.6GL astra (carb) that i had the engine out of to put into my nova. it a 1.2 carb at the moment. the astra engine has the pin drive type dizzy on it. On the bottom of the dizzy is a 3 pin plug:

And on the coil, there are 2 connections. One is the standard 4 spade connection bit that my loom will plug straight into, and on the bottom of the coil there is an ignition module that has a 4 pin plug:

I have no idea about the wiring side of these 2 components, so what i was planning to do was to run my current distributor and coil but its a slot drive and will not go onto the astra engine. So regarding the wiring, how could i get this running? thanks
Could anybody help with the wiring? i need this sorted fairly quickly, thanks!
i think this is pretty much the same as the later 1.4 sr engine.. there was a specific mini-loom for it. you will need the connector off the dizzy & the wiring will be fairly easy, or you could obtain a 1.3 camshaft & get it fitted.
i will go and chop the plugs and wiring off the astra tomorrow. So any help as to where each wire would go?
ok, get the complete mini-loom, try not to chop anything. the haynes book wiring loom for the 1990 onwards 1.4 (its in chapter 13 of the blue book) shows where it goes.
And no you won't easily be able to change the drive setup.
My cav dizzy ended up ruined after attempts by myself, and some engineers in work.
The pin is glass hard, and really will not budge!
keep up matt, we are now on to the wiring.. the dizzy is sorted.
Easy, mk2 cav mini loom.
Plug and play.
