Black is a hard colour to do.

davehaynes
18-06-08, 11:04 PM

davehaynes

Failing that, spray it in primer then imagine its matt black, or post the primer pics up here.

that gimp program doesn't look too hard.
what would happen if i changed the colour like it shows me on that thread but with all the different colurs of primer, silver, fiberglass, filler etc. ??

Welsh Dan

You'd get different shades of black, grey and white. You'd need to select each area, then adjust the lightness to make it look near black.

Martin

black is a bitch to paint aswell spesh over filler..

davehaynes
18-06-08, 11:58 PM
yeah just been having a play around with GIMP lol sounds abit wrong.
quite an easy program to use but i see what you mean the filler and primer parts are all different shades. think ill wait until its all primed and then do a photoshop. thanks for the help.

Presumably the Red L in the front window means Leaper, as in socially when people see what you're driving?

I'm sorry for sounding harsh but thats definately NOT my cup of tea at all.

oh dear

My thoughts exactly, looks like he is from a respectable area aswell

my I suggest you ask on http://www.barryboys.co.uk/mx/ for someone to photoshop it

I spent a couple hours on photoshop for you today, I removed the kit, the filler, changed the wheels, ditched the bonnet, and boot, fitted gsi bumpers to it aswell, was a bit tricky, even managed to change the background, but with a little bit work your onto a winner, here's the result

Now, thats taking it a little too far. If he likes the look fair play. Not everyone needs to think its ace. I dont like it but there is a lot of effort in it and for that fair play.

So for those of you making as harsh a comment as you have, take a step back and look at your cars. Does everyone love them?

What?? Absolute bollox!! Your car is run of the mill, its very nice but again, not my cup of tea. I admre cars that stand out, I like the idea that people look at a car and say, oooh its got _____. Thats a good idea!

Thats why I dont colour code my GSi bumpers or fit Speedlines to my car.

Not that theres nothing wrong with that.

As for the SX Badges, this is the first I've heard of them being brought to Billing, its been a few months since you said you'd first contacted me about them. SO whats with that?

To be honest Mark, I was quite willing to bury the hatchet but apparently theres still some old wounds and issues.

As for the badges, thanks for the offer but I'll get something sorted.

Appoligies for thread Jacking....

Dave, keep up the good work mate.

One more thread hijack from me,

Dod I dropped any issues on my part years ago. I just think its funny how I post up one comment which if you read I never even said I didn't like it, it wasn't my cup of tea or anything. I put a witty post up in both cases, and all of a sudden you change the tune and are all appolgetic to the guy and then turn it around and post up about how you dislike my car?

All my replies if you read and turn on your humour mode you will see they are all in jest. Yes I dislike the car. It has filler on it to smooth it out, it'll crack within 10miles on the road. I hate to say it but it will happen and the poor lad has wasted 3 years on doing it.

I like you run of the Mill comment, The car in my opinion is far from it, but thats besides the point. It its run of the mill a Nova with unpainted gsi bumpers dark wheels and interior striped out must be show stopping for you?

Never mind.

Dave keep up the work lad, get it on the road in primer for a week before painting it. you'll then see any cracks and can refll them with a flexible filler that bodyshops use for bumpers etc and this will help stop any further cracking as it willhave some flex

davehaynes

lol thanks for the attempt on the photoshop pal, harder than it looks isn't it. but hay, that paint effort actually gives an ok picture of what it will look like, atleast in one colour lol.
just planning on getting it primed, will be easier to do a photoshop then.

bought a compressor and spray gun the other day. £250 compressor and £350 DeVilbiss gti, no money now until next payday :(
my mate is letting me use his lock up for spraying so its all coming together

ive been driving it recently, clocked up just under 350 miles and no cracks what so ever, as i tried to say this has not been bodged.

Unfortunately this thread has now gotten way off track. Dave, to get a better idea of what your car might look like after your requests, you might want to look at the features to see if there are any cars in there that are what you are after.

Sorry, but I'm now closing this thread. Dod and Novacabrio, please sort out your issues via pm rather than in public.

If you don't like his car there is no need to slag it off, not everyone wants a standard car with gsi kit, I do not want to see this turning into another barryboys forum.
