Had my renewal through, £394 including breakdown cover, drive other cars, track cover etc.
Had a few other quotes from sky/brentacre etc, all of which were £480+ without breakdown cover.

So i rung up hic to renew today, also changed my occupation over from my last job, expecting it to make fook all difference.
"I'll just requote you with the new details"

"The premium has increased, to £549"

£150 more for a change of job

I explained i wasn't going to pay that, and had had cheaper quotes elsewhere
"Oh, i'll see what i can do"

"Ok ive had a word with my supervisor, and the best we can do you is £399"

£150 off because basically they got a bit worried i was going to hang up lol

RESULT
Cheers Rob @ HIC :D

I had the same problem with them.. i basicly let my policy run out, then rang up as a new customer, the saving was huge.

HIC have been close-ish on the Novargh to Sky, but the latter offered a better policy. On the Celica, they were way more expensive!

What was the change in employment from and to btw?

From I.T/Office based, to industrial/warehouse

thats because anyone who works in an office is deemed sensible and warehouse monkeys arent

(not saying your a monkey, monkeys dont have hair that long/wild :p )

Aye.
I just didn't expect the increase to be so much TBH.

Just because ive changed where i work doesn't make my drive any quicker lol

Everyones been in that situation.
And a 1.4 mk3 astra is not a cheap car to insure, suprisingly high insurance groups

Sounds about right for your age TBH.
The lowest group on a 1.4 astra is 6 iirc.
I paid £1100 on my first year, on a grp3 1.2i

They were probably just nobbing it on then, the only occupations which endure a decent hike in premium are things like journalism, motor trade and military/civil service (on a base).
