Hello All

this is going to sound stupid but here we go, last night i jacked the car up and it started loosing water and looked like it was the water pump as it was coming from the bottom pulley area, then i droped the jack back down, put some more water in the car and it was fine?, no water was lost car wasnt getting overally hot, everything seemed ok, this morning i started the car up and it was dripping a little bit then stopped as soon as it got hot, do you think this could just be a cold start valve problem? or does it sound like a usual fault when cramming a redtop into a nova?

Are you sure it was coolant water? Not a puddle caused by Rain fall?

the waterpump seals could have failed and its dripping out the tell-tale on the casting, perhaps the seals re-seat or close up when it gets warm. if it is the pump, i wouldnt leave it too long as the water will be contaminating the belt and corroding the bearing in the pump, sooner or later it will fail causing the cambelt to come slack and jump teeth.
the engine wont be overly hot if there is still enough water in it so that doesnt tell you anything

taste the water, if its sweet its antifreeze
