At the mo, i got a 4x35w Kenwood Head Unit, kenwood 6x9 (170w)(which are bangin) and a pair of Xplod 100w 4inch in the doors. They sound shite. As soon as it reaches number 20 on head unit they crackle. And there is no bass at all from them. WTF is goin on. I thought sony was good!

I've installed a Sony headunit - 4x50w. I have SPLX 100W 4 inchers in the standard dash positions and I'm having exactly the same problem, they're just not coping. Don't know what to do with them, don't want to take them out and lose all my sound from the front, but I can't really afford custom door builds or whatever.

id get a pair high pass filters (if the hu has this feature, enable it) and wire these 4" speakers to the filters cos the bad sound you get is cos the 4" are too small to give bass and they start cracking at high volume, and then youll get the needed bass from the rear speakers or from the sub (in case you have one) and the mid/high frequencies from the front speakers, thats my opinion, you can check it lowering the bass and popping up the volume and the speakers wont crack or theyll do it less (you would have to see the rms watts and all these things...). These filters are used for separate components so your 4" speakers would work more or less as tweeters (cos youd have to wire them to the outputs for the tweeters)... If you have an amp theres no prob cos you can choose at which hz do u wanna do the cut... Well, thats all :) Sorry about my english (im still learning :)

I haven't had much experience with Sony ICE but working for a Sony AV dealer I have nothing but praise for all their products. Being a Sony Salesman I can get my greasy mits on any Sony ICE products at trade prices ah ha ha ha ha ha!! :P :P
