View Full Version : Driving test stories
Due to the Irish Governemnt kicking Provisional Licenced Drivers Asses, i thought I'd start a thread entitled as above.
I didnt apply for my test for a long time due to driving convictions and the fear of having my licence endorsed. When I did there was a 6mth waiting list. so I wasnt expecting it anytime soon. Til I landed home at 10 one Sunday night and my mother said, this letters been here for you for ages. I opened it and it kindly informed me my test was the following morning at 9.20am. BOLLOX!!!
No lessons at this point and no time to get any either. Bollox!! My Cars not taxed!! A swift call to the missus sorted that as well. So took it into town and decided I'd better wash it, during which I noticed the 2 front tyres were welll fooked, so I thought I better change them. Started panicing a little when i was at the tyre fitters, time was running out but i got out and to the test centre in good time.
We all got called in at 9.15 at which point i was informed I was in the wrong test centre!! BOLLOX!! I dashed across town got pulled into the test centre and litterally fell in the door landing in a heap. Anyhoo, got going and the end result? I passed!! :thumb:
well done fella.
My test went to plan untill i drove over a cerb in reverse. This started alarm bells ringing in my head so i just checked all mirrors then pulled back of the cirb and got on with the rest of my test.I think because the way i acted and just got on with it he passed me 1st time which was good as i was out in my mini cruising that evening.
i did somthing like that, took my test i was just chatting to the woman all the way around as you do. Just as we were heading back to the test centre i accidently went over a small kerb. I just laughed and said whoops sorry.
Got back into the test centre, she passed me i got home got into my little 2 door saloon and went to blackpool, wales and everywhere i could pmsl.
i wrote it off a couple of months down the line thinking i was a Pro and took a corner too fast oh the joys of lift of oversteer on inexperienced drivers is amazing, Got a hatchy a few weeks after that and whala been hooked since.
sorry, i just took 8 lessons & passed. Pretty boring really..........
I`d never even sat in a drivers seat, booked my lesons thinking i`d need 20+
14 lessons later i was sat waiting in the test centre for my examiner, i was told by my instructer "i hope you dont get the tall guy with moustache, he`s failed 90% of my students who have been with him"
Then guess who walks out of the door? some lanky streak of p*ss with a massive cookie duster sat under his nose
Test lasted 13 mins, but i p*ssed it :thumb: no minors - whoop! whoop!
I took about 9 or 10 lessons altogether.
I done the test in a Diesel Mini - very nice to drive. It went well until I approached a particular roundabout, the roundabout was blocked with cars but there was a space for me to nip through. As soon as I entered the roundabout the cars started moving. Luckily I only got a minor for it as it was safer for me to keep going really. When she told me I passed, I was so excited that I couldn't remember what manuveures(sp) I'd done during the test, just got a lift home, hopped in the Nova and began chavvin' it large. Got 5 minors in the test, done the test 2 months after turning 17.
That was all only 4 weeks back from yesterday! lol
Edit: Don't the first few journeys feel soooo illegal by yourself?

Mine were illegal. I didn't do much below seventy for the first 20 years
Lol.
Well my 1.0 sits at about 600,000 rpm in 4th (top) gear at 70 mph so its a no no.
Had test, passed
Can't really remember much more than that tbh, was a while ago now. Having said that, I couldn't really remember it 5 minutes after finishing.

are you sure you passed it then????
lol well I got a license out of it, so must have been ok :D
Since passing my test, I have had my driving personally endorsed by three different magistrates, & at home I have a letter from the local council saying my parking's fine as well....Beat that

Thats interesting, while doing reverse round the corner i (apparently) touched the kerb,it must have been that light that i never felt it and only knew about it when the bloke failed me for it back at the test center.I only got about 5 minors, most of them for not looking in my wing mirrors when indicating, whoops!Got home and booked a second test that afternoon for a couple of weeks later.Thought I'd failed about half way through for an emergency stop that seemed to take longer than normal but my instructor said that due to frost that morning they had taken the road conditions into account!Passed it thank god with 4 minors! Now drive like a granny on the main roads, being boring and sticking to the speed limits so i dont have to do it all again!
i got 1 minor for doing 60 in a 40 zone, it should of been an instant fail but my drive was perfect up untill then and i was only speeding for a few seconds so he let me off

Too right. I was brushing my teeth the other day, and stopped halfway through - still with the toothbrush in my mouth - as I forgot what I was doing. :tard:

soon you will be bending down to tie your laces & thinking 'what else can I whilst I'm down here?'
I got lucky on mine. There was a dodgy give way junction in a housing estate where the paint had worn away on the floor and you couldnt see it so i drove straight over it without looking lol. I also drove onto the rumble strips and part of the hard shouler on the dual carriageway section because an AA truck wouldnt let me out. Only got 3 minors :)
Friend of mine applied for his provisional, and got a full licence through the post. He phoned the DVLA and asked them what licence he had on their files, and it was a full one! He's never taken a test and he's been driving since i have lol Got a few speeding fines too and theres never been a problem. Jammie git!
a friend of mine got his provisional on his 17th and it cam with the wrong birthdate on it so he used it for ID when going drinking etc - he looked about 12 anyway

I would imagine it will be fine. He's on the system as having a full one, just as we are. I doubt 10 years donw the line he's going to be discovered lol. If they didnt flag it when he sent it off for points, i doubt it'll be flagged when he replaces it!
ahahaha nicely done lol
