Think you cut off the end of the selecter housing that sticks out to the front and modify the selector rod that goes through it to work the other way around, not seen one in detail yet.

Thats how i've seen it done. Fun begins when fitting an F28 though as that has no selector turret on top.

if you plan to use a 'common' box, ie. f13 or f20, then it is easy peasy... you need to find a mk1 astra & rob the whole gear linkage off it. all it is rod straight from the stick to the selector box with a rubber uj.
take the shaft out of the selector box & get someone to machine a hole on the opposite side & fit a rubber seal. then put the shaft in facing the front. then mount the stick assy & mod the rod to fit. all of the gears will work the same.

What he said. Don't cut too much off though, there is a seal in there you need to keep.

Run the box upside down?? I know that's what they do with Formula Ford (or they used to)

basically what has been said, undo the selector an spin it 180 so it points to the front of the car then just extend to linkage to the gear stick. Thats what we did in about 5 mins an it worked fine. Also check out how I did the clutch cable lmfao.

for gods sake, an inline hewland box that once was based on an upside down vw beetle gbox is a bit different to a transverse gm box.........

the nova runs the silly linkage arrangement, the mk1 astras (& mk2 i Think) just ran a simple tube from stick to selector housing. for mid engined use, it would be soo easy to fit....

what gearbox are you using? from a few sources you can phisycly take the selector housing off and turn it around so the selector rod faces the opposite way. if an f28 then the best way would be to modfy it to run cables. no crapy linkage there to create more play n the system.
