Think my alt/battery's funked. Go for a good drive, turn engine off, car wont start again, turns over very slowly.
Put a multimeter across battery when cars running, showing 12.33v.
Car off shows 12.01v.
Alt dead?
Paul
Sounds like it. Should be around the 14v mark running.
Check your alt earth strap first.

Check your alt earth strap first.
Where does this run from/to?
On the fan belt tensioner, connects the alternator to the inlet manifold via an earth strap.

funnily enough I've just suffered this problem on the way home from PV, the charging light came on, then went off, a quick look around revealed nothing, then monday morning it wouldn't start, dead battery, wouldn't jump start either. Slapped the battery from the nova in and it started fine, but driving to work the dash refused to work above 1400rpm, checked the output from the alt and like you was getting 12.something at idle, rising to 14.8v when revving. Swapped the alt for one off a spare engine and it's all fine, for now.
