idle control valve or air flow metre, my money is on the AFM. You got an aftermarket air filter?

check your pipes

cheers guys i think it might be the accelerator cable sticking but how do i clean icv out and air flow meter? is there a certain place for the cable to be set at?

The throttle return spring could also be fuggered.

But odds on its the ICV. I belive they are bolted where the fuel pump on carb engines is (at the cam belt end of the engine, on the back of the cam housing).

carb cleaner in there and it should sort things
