outer c/v

yoo, i think my outer c/v ****ed its making a horrible grinding noise ive been told they usualy go and as my car is rather lowered it doesnt help! can i get uprated items? what other cars can i get the c/v's out of? its a corsa with a 1.4 16v lump:thumb:

Cavalier and Astra Drives aparently fit, but I'd assume you'd need to go small block drives, but they probably arent any stronger thasn your own items. They will last you as long as you're not doing reverse doughnuts etc. Buy them brand new, they're pretty cheap.

Can you discribbe the grinding nopise a little better? They usually knock rather than grind.

no haha no reverse doughnuts! umm its like a clicking/grinding noise that you can tell is coming from the wheel as it speeds up with the speed of the car? and i did have a knocking noise coming from the from when turning but i thought it was the top mounts?

Is it a constatn kncok knock knock as the wheel turns?

To be honest, I'd say going by what you've said, it might be a wheel bearing?

What sorta nick are your discs and pads in as well mate?

nah more of a grind grind grind as the wheel turns?
i spoke to a calibra owner and he said from him eperience its the outer c/v? pads are about 20miles old and disks are ok a tad liped but nuthing majour.

how do the shafts work? what are they like 3 bits? would i need to buy the whole shaft of just the c/v?

No, just the outer CV joint. GO to the Motofu(kers, tell them what you're driving and what you need and you're away. Its a messy job but not much mechanical skills needed to do it though.

I'm still thinking ti might be a wheel bearing, but again they're cheap so you could probably even do both.
