car was in the garage today having the timing and octane levels set. he noticed something under my passenger wing, has 2 pies coming out of it. it was connected upto the original 1.2 spi. should it be connected anywer to my 1.6gte engine? nothing like less than 12 hours before setting off to pv to spot a problem.

.......... has 2 pies coming out of it. .lol lol
charcoal canister dont be frightened of it, it is not necessary.
Only problem with binning it, is you have to leave the tank breather hose to it, disconnected...
So you get fumes coming out the breather hose, so avoid any sparks near it lol
Mines like that though, and has been fine
What does it do?
Being a carb guy i wouldnt know lol

The carbon 'soaks' up the fuel vapours. Then when your engine is running the ECU will open up (at certain times) a valve and the inlet manifold sucks the vapours out of the canister.
