Smokey Smokey !!!

Hey all.

Iv just fitted my Gsi engine in my nova Sri, Runs fine just smokey and sady its blue smoke (argh) but not all the time, only on when you rev it hard, (floor it) but not on idle or taking it steady. I checked the spark plugs but none are oiley
it hard a comp test this morning and it came back soming like.

4 145

when you give mine stick to about 6000 revs it blows blue, i wouldnt advise revving it up especially from cold, as thats going to do mroe damage.

nah i dont do it when its cold thats silly anit it. i just want to know if its rings or stem seals realy (hopes it steam seals lol)

Should be getting 140-150 on all cylinders, did you try it a second time after putting a squirt of oil down the plug-holes? If the two lower readings go up, then there's a problem with the rings, if not, it's valves or head gasket.

Sounds like rings to me.

But because two adjacent cylinders are low, it could be HG.

So do a wet comp test

its smoke nearly all the time now. so iv checked the spark plugs on 1 and 2 and there black. (bugger) anyone know off any good engine rebuilders??

compression/oil rings by the sound of it and on both pots aint good! :(

Cheaper to get a new lump tbh

Wot a shame i have a 2l 8v in shed LOL Shame. lol. im going to but some holts piston seal in for a temp fix lol

could not be rings tbh, dont generaly see 2 pots down on compression unless HG is on its way. drop a little oil down each bore n see what the compression test shows then..
