Anyone tried these? Do they last? Im about to buy a new set of tyres and im considering these. Not sure if there has been a recent thread on tyres?

yes had these on my astra turbo, mind you they were 18's but they were very very good. i would recomend them all day long. extremely cheap for them on ebay too.

had new ones on the front for over 3months and seemed like they never wore down at all. and it used to spin quite a bit with around 250hp..

think the smallest they come in is 17"

and im no fan of yoko tyres tbh, they tend not to suit UK tarmac properly....

and a tyre that never seems to wear down and spins up, isnt really a good recomendation is it ;)

I'll never buy Yoko's again. Not enough grip. They had a very clever marketing campaign in the 90's hence the popularity.

Ive got some on the calibra - 215/35 18s - theyre ok, seem to grip well when its warm (better than the hankooks they replaced) but you seem to notice when its colder - in snow they were overly twitchy. I dont think theyre too hard - mine have been on for a couple of 1000 miles now and are scrubbing up nicely.

I cant say much about the ultimate performance of them is cause I drive a boat, sorry calibra so it doesnt get thrashed (thats what the novas for...).

Yoko's have allways been rubbish in the wet from my experiences of them (535's and 539's were great in hot, dry weather but wore like crazy).

So what what would people recommend? I thought Toyo's were meant to be poor? I need a 195 for a 15", i need lots of grip but i do need them to last.

Ive got avon zv3s on the nova (195/45 15s) and they are sound - only £40 something a corner.

I really rate Hankook RS2's but currently got Kumho KU31's and they are significantly better than the RS2's. Both are uber cheap, wear well for grippy tyres and are ace:D

not a fan of toyos road selection tbh, yeah they are cheap but they are also pants imho.

If you want something to last, try Pirelli, AVON or FULDA's are the next tyres I'd like to try. German so likely pretty good.

The firestone firehawks I had lasted quite well, 15k before the wear on the edges started to get the better of them.

u can get the parada's on ebay in 195/50/15 for about £80 a pair delivered...

what the hell do you expect from a high power front wheel drive car mate?

in my opinion they were very very good, only other tyres i have used that could remotly come close were uniroyal rain sports which are **** loads more...

the uniroyal rainsport is very soft, has good grip, but wears down like ****.

i had the yokohama a539 on my XE nova, the did pretty good.

i had pirelli P6000 before that, the absolutely sucked.

toyo proxis is really good in dry, but the won't last very long lol

The uniroyals are as good/better than the toyos in the dry, MUCH better in the wet, and last longer as there a harder compound.
Id never buy toyos tbh.

My tyres are 195/45/r16

Uniroyals - ****e
Yoko S drive- **** hot for money £150 for 4
Toyo Proxes- pony, the footprint is tiny for a 195

Regarding the paradas, i paid £130 for 4 (195/50r15) yet to use them, but all my mates do if thats anything to go by?

Aye, very poor grip in the wet IMO. Yoko AVS Sport are incredibly in the dry, but ultimatly dangerous in the wet lol

Falken ZE512's, cheap low end tyres, but incredibly grippy IMO, ive had several set over the last few years, long lasting, cheap and incredibly good grip/tyre compound.

the parada spec 2's i would say are the best tyres ive used. even in the wet they are very very good, i woudl say wet whether use they is pretty much no diffarence between the parada's and uniroyal rainsports. well worth a try imo and the price is exellent, cant get a good tyre for the price of the parada's..

i had paradas on my rwd cossie and i have to say they never gave me much confidence in the wet,but they were on 18inch wheels if that made any difference.
ran pirelli dragos on my cav td daily driver and have to say they were the best tires ive ever had,dry wet or torential wet they were excellent and wore very well too

Stuart

Bloke at work has them on the front of his MG ZR thing... he hates them lol. He only got them as he got a really cheap deal from a tyre fitter mate.

Hes going back to F1's as soon as possible.

I dont drive my car in the wet anyway so should be fine

I'd second the Khumo KU31's, I have them on my road wheels, good grip levels, great wet capabilities & very cheap in 195/45/15, I'd buy more to replace when they wear out.

The wear rate is good, better than the yoko's imo.

For the best dry tyres there really isn't much that touches the AO48R's, but they are a softer compound & ideally suited for track situations. There is always the R888 v's AO48r debate but lets not go there.
