Hi Guys!
I need some advice from you guys.
Im buying a 1.0L,4Speed Nova from a friend for £50 and want to plough some money into it as a project.
I just wanted to know what is the best engine to put into the Car. I've been told the easiest 1 is the 8v 1.6. But is it the best?

Advice would be Great!

Thanks!:)

totally depends what you want from the car, any standard nova engine is easy, 2.0 xe's arent hard, etc, do a search.

It depends on what is "best" for your budget, ability, insurance costs etc.If you can afford it then a c20 let is the ultimate. But yeah the 1.6 is one of the easiest to do.

300-400 for the engine or for the engine, and the brakes, mounts, and suspension to match???

You have got loads of choice, there is alway the big vs small block debate. get a small block and stick a couple of carbs on there :D

dont forget the insurance and everything else needed to update the 1.0 shell/chassis to cope with more power etc

I say prepare the chassis for a 2L16v and see what engines come up for sale near you.

The way things are going I'd stick with the 1 litre lump for as long as you can and take solice in the fact you wont be using tanker-loads of fuel, letting you save more money for when fuel prices come back down to a reasonable level.

£3-400 for the engine alone will see you a good XE.

Bear in mind though you will then need injection fuel tank, fuel lines, shafts, mounts, strengthening, plus brakes and suspension to cope with the weight/power. Then lots more for insurance.
