Diesel Gauge not working, suggestions?

Hiya everybody,

First time ever on here, only got my TD Nova recently.

The diesel gauge on the dash is not working i.e saying my tank is about 158% full
All the fuses look fine, but to be honest i dont know what i'd be looking for if they werent fine
Ive tried giving the dash a good bang but that doesnt seem to work.

Any ideas please?

Could be the fuel level sender on the tank thats goosed?

How would i go about checking this, is it something i could easily do on my own?

p.s. this is my first car ever, ive never done any repair work etc on my car (or any car) except from air filter and oil
