What's it called and how do you remove it?

I know it's been asked before but I've no idea what to search for!

Yes and no lol

I need to remove the front one so I can have a new cross member welded in. In the pictures it looks as though you've cut it?

Not sure what you mean, I didn't cut the metal bars out - they just unclip...?

How do you gain access on a 1.2i with the carbon cannister in the way? :(

The Canister isnt in the way. Get the wheel off and get your head in and have a look. All will become apparent when you get a good look.

2no 13mm on either side, just towards the front of the strut assembly.

The second post trackdaynova linked to shows just the brackets that the bumper carrier bolts to, they are held to the car by 2 13mm bolts each which you can get to from within the arch, the brackets themselves are held to the carrier by another 13mm bolt each, but he's replaced those bolts with bonnet pins to do away with the carrier.

The carbon canister does block one of the bolts, just yank it out, it will come away from the bracket & reveal the last bolt.

Btw these bolts are odd, M7 like the seat mounting bolts incase you think some M8s will go back in.

Is there no safe way of removing the carbon cannister, as with all nova's they do get a little scabby around that area :( and... what do you do with the pipes after?

u can block the pipes off but the vent from the tank should be left open
