Right guys any help here is fantastic i am wanting to turbo the 1.6 16v tigra engine in my nova it has done 41000 miles with full service history.
i am wanting to use the spacer plate idea to lower the compression but dont no how thick to go i was going to make it block. headgasket.spacer. head gasket. head is this write(already got some were to make it).
also what type of metal would be used for this.
Also what turbo would be best i was thinking one from a rs turbo escort becauase they are both 1.6.
But would buy a brand new one if some one pointed me in correct direction.
The other problem i had was were to find a oil feed for the turbo i though taking oil presure sensor out and making a return in to the sump.
I have already changed the inlet for a mantzel one and added autosprint cams and a chip the car also has a 2.5 inch straight through to one back box.
any help would be great thanks:thumb:

It'll be OK on mild boost done like that, an Escort T3 is a bit big tbh. T25 from a Renault 5 GTT is far better suited IMO. Get a custom manifold made up to suit, get a head spacer as you say & sandwich between 2 gaskets & it'll do the job. Not the best but fine.

The oil feed can be tapped into from the rear of the oil pump, sump return will need TIG welding in if you use an alloy fitting (sump, alloy?)

You'll be best off selling the cams IMO as they will not give you the power you would get with the higher compression.

You will need a MOCAL oil filter relocation kit too.

Mantzel is ideal though. Get a nice intercooler & make up the pipework etc, you are almost there. Best thing would be a standalone/mapped management system to fuel it correctly, make the most of the mods & avoid popping the head gasket spacer stack.

Std cams will be fine, you just wont get the gain on high lift (N/A) cams that you would expect. By all means keep them, but selling them will help fund a custom manifild IMO.

The oil feed just needs to be a braided aeroquip hose, off the oil pump, P-clipped along the chassis leg & into the turbo. Return simply a pipe into the sump - as high up as you can get it. (every mm counts)

heres my old 8v for inspiration....
