Anyone got any advice about colour coding the dashboard on a Nova?

I've seen it done before and the interior spray isn't too expensive, if i could spray it myeslf. We've already swapped all the red/grey interior (seats, dash, door trim) from my old 1.4sr into my 2.0baby. And me & my mate have made a rather nice red-cloth'd parcel shelf.

But now the dash needs brightening up. I'm also not sure whether to spray the black bits of the dash to red, or the gray bits to red?? The black bits would be easier to remove and to spray. But i'm not sure??

Has any1 in here done this? How easy is it to do? Any advice...??

The alternative to interior spray would be the interior cockpit film ya can get from halfords, but it'd be just as difficult if not more so and i dont think it'd look as good.

Then the next stage would be the ceiling...??

do ya black bits, like nobs, handles, buttons, dont go over the top, i find that with the nobs and handles and buttons and flicky bits done it looks smarter, dont go over the top!

Rip the whole fuckin' dash out, fit a carbon-fibre 'shelf' type-thing all the way accross, with Autometer gauges all the way accross that. Then rip the whole interior out (including your red trimmed parcel shelf) and just have two carbon-fibre seats, and a rollcage. Bob's your uncle.

lol Marty - your EXTREME!

If yer gonna colour code yer interior/dash - do as Shephard says and dont go over the top - the last thing you want is the car looking sh1te - theres a rd dashed car in this monthe fast car - got yellow lightning lines all over it - well corny!

I'l personally colour code the interior in red/black - leave the dash black and if u have to play with the dials/knobs etc do them chrome/brushed aluminium (spray silver) - include door trim sections like handles, winders (if u have them) and parts of the door card plastic.

DONT GO OVER THE TOP and remember if you are spraying plastic fully degrease it 1st (to get shot of that dash cleaner stuff prob sprayed on at some time or other) then apply plastic primer then paint. If you dont the paint wont stick and will come off or worse still go all gooey!

If youve a mk2 dash (vynal) you can bye dye from halfords which is very good - only works on vynal though not plastic parts.

I'll try to get some photo's uploaded of my interior, The dash it fully colourcoded, shame about the seats. Pi$$ easy to do. Don't look too bad if you do it right.
