Head gasket blown between 1 or more cylinders and the water jacket due to corrosion of the head?
Time for a sniff test methinks.
Becuase the expansion tank is in the engine bay, not the cap on the side of car lol lol

tis the most likely cause from my experiences, simply sticking a new gasket in will be pointless if the head has corroded though.

well i torqued the head bolts up some more just,(3 were loose) lol, engine sounds better, no more tap tap tap, no more smoke out the back,
if i squeeze the pipe from the thermo housing to the rad, and rev it, it expands, then goes back down, but i can remove the header tank cap and it wont boil over, lol
ill take it to the garage to have a new one fitted then lol
I didn't know you had a garage
