View Full Version : Remote wire to 2 amps
I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find it
One head unit, two amps - do I connect the remote wire to Amp1, then from Amp1 to Amp2? Or do I need to Y-split it to each amp before it gets there.

In my mates car we ran it to amp1, then another wire from the terminal on amp1 to amp2.

I'm not 100% but i'm sure Y splitting doesn't give you very good quality from your amps and will be a strain on them.
Maby wire them up seperate would be my option.

They can't be wired seperate, as the HU only has one remote output.
Or are you thinking about the RCA cables?
just run the head unit wire to amp one.then run enought wire from amp one to amp two.. as you said above.will work fine...
Doesn't matter at all. It's only a switch wire really, mine are normally run in series as it looked tidier with the way my amps were sat in the car. Might as well split them but the power distro for the amps tho as they run to the same place....
EDIT: Also if you have posh stuff like PG Ti DEQ/iX15EG/TT10 you get multiable delayed remote amp/12v switch turn on ;)

RCA Cables yes.

Problem? :p
BTW have you remembered to run you signal cables and power cables separate?
Yes :D
Although I put the power cable down the OS and RCAs down the NS - then realised the car loom was down the NS. Whoops lol
Fuel pump live is down the OS as well though, so either way its a fail. I've kept the RCA cables as far away from the loom as possible though.
From amp 1 to amp 2 will work fine as i use to run 2 amps in my nova gsi many years ago.

daisy chain style is fine for 2 amps, works well enough with 4 too, any more and I'd take a 5A feed off the distribution block into a relay to ensure they all get enough juice to switch.

why would this be ???? all mine are running down the offside ...... but i have one problem my amp doesnt turn off even when the key is out etc even tho the remote wire is also fitted , could this be owt to do with me running the rca cables , remote wire , and live ... down the same side ??? .. what could this be ? (its doing my head in )
also does it matter on which end the fuse is on on the power cable as my fuse is in the boot , but since herd that it should be within 18 inch of the battery

Fuse needs to be near battery as its purpose is to protect you/the car from the cable. Ie if a short happens, the length of the cable upto the fuse is likely to melt/burn.
The power cables & RCA's & speaker cable should be seperated to avoid electrical interference which will come out of the speakers in the form of loud humming/whirring noises.
looks like i have a lot of work to do now
as the majority of spare rca / speaker leads are behind the dash tierapped (less visual mess ) (BARSTUARD) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
any ideas bout the un turn offable amp ??
probably got your remote wire on the wrong lead on the headunit. it is the blue/white wire for the remote and not the plain blue one..
daisy chaining from amp1 to amp2 is absolutly fine. if you were to add more at a later date or to add fans ect it would be worth using a relay..

Yea a think you mite be rite mate as i have attached it to a wire that was loose but capped off (think its red ).............. amp seems to be working just not turning off ....
probably that then on vauxh red is a constant live and black switched live, u want to put the remote wire on the blue/white like i sad above (not the plain blue wire as this does not produce as much current)
cheers ck al have a look wen i get home ... cheerrs bud :thumb:
