Im still toying with which engine to use. With the 2.0 8v do u still need all the same mountings as the 2.0 16v. U know the engine mount kit they sell for about 450.

(at this rate i'll be going for a 1600)

yes as the 2.0l 8v is about 130 bhp as standard and i doubt very much if it will stay this way
so your looking at about 140-150 BHP wich is about the figure that starts to cause you problems, shafts snapping and mountings breaking.

Some people on here will disagree but then some people dont bother to seam weld there engine bays for the 2.0l 16v transplant. :?

If you really must fit one of them big heavy engines in yer car then (this is gonna hurt to say lmao) you just as well fit a valver and be done with it as the same work is involved as near as damn it.

another plus for the valver is that there are thousands more tuning parts avalible compared to the 8v.

i think im gonna put a 1600 8v in it for now just to keep this simple. and also cos im only gonna be 19 when the cars finished. I think i'll spend my time getting the rest of the car right then when i can afford it go for a bigger engine in the future.

Also, just driven my girls 1600 gsi and i thought it went like a fuckin rocket!!!
