Hi,new to this site. ive just bought a 1989 vauxhall nova 1.3 sr. and have a mk2 astra gte 2lt 8v doner car. I have heard several things from people saying different things i may need to do the conversion.eg 22 spline drive shafts, biger conversion hubs, also engine and gear box conversion brackets and spacers?
I have only done 2 engine swaps my self but they were straight swaps. This on the other hand is something different, alot more confusing, as well as some one telling me today that i will need to take out and modify the dash board to fit my digidash from the astra.
Please leave any information that will be helpfull and if possible were to get parts. thanks adam

hi mate try the modifications section on www.topbuzz.co.uk (http://www.topbuzz.co.uk) theres alot involved in big block conversions try using the search option theres been loads of these threads before. The digi dash is also a bigger to fit in the mk1 dash but it can go in with abit of mincing.:thumb:

well if your going from 1 1.3 sr, youll need:

drive shafts making up using the correct inners and outers

2.0 8v engine bay wiring loom

fuel tank from a 1.2 spi (fitted with a mk3 mpi pump)

top front engine mount

someone to mate your 2.08v exhaust manifold to your sr one.

you dont need to strengthen your bay, but its advisable!!

Have a look in the Articles forum, there's a guide to fitting the 2.0 engine.

Not true, though you can use TD shafts. You will need inner CV joints from a mk2 (1985) Cavalier 1.6. These will link 22 spline (TD & some GTE) Nova shafts to the larger 2.0 gearbox. Otherwise proper conversion shafts from the likes of Chris Astley Motorsport or Courtenay Sport etc will be required.

It's essentially a simple conversion. Its all been discussed on this website on a weekly basis since year dot.
