hi all,

when the winter sets in it will be time to do some more work to the nova for next year.i want alot more power than i already have, which it will only be a weekend car so kinda track car spec for the road and possibly some events.

the dilemer(sp) im in is what engine do i go for.im in two minds with keeping the e16se because i wanted to keep my gte more original and not follow the group of engine swappers.

but, theres only a certain limit that engine can go and for the amount of money needed to get it to a decent spec i could get more for my money from an engine conversion.i was thinking of going for the c16xe motor.didnt want to go for a 2l xe because most people do that and not one to follow a crowd(even though it would make sense.:D )

at the moment my e16se has the folowing mods-ported and polished head,270degree cam, vernier pulley, uprated valve springs, lightend flywheel,4 branch exhaust manifold and stainless system,k an n induction kit.

so has anybody got any ideas for a decent spec for either engine that will have big power gains.

thanks guys.

bruce

the e16se is shouting out for some carbs.

But there and again for the same price you can stick a C20XE in there and have same power and more toque, and IMO be more reliable.

People do the C20XE's for a reason, theyre fooking good fun!

For big power gains, a 1600 16v is a good choice if you have the budget to tune.

im thinkin the same for mine the 1.6 16v is good to tune better weight aswell xes are fun but heavy

Cams and tuning parts for the Baby XE are very expensive, but you can always go the usual route before having to spend big bucks.

They seem to be a good engine but some people dislike them and see them as a weak engine. I've one in a Nova, not yet wired but when it came in the corsa, it was a real rapid firing wee engine.

Break the 1.6 8v for seperate parts & fund a cammed 2.0 8v on bike carbs (different) or go for for a tuned twin cam small block.

I've just got my Mantzel tuned C16XE running & it does sound pretty mental, think 1000cc motorbike!

budget wise, itl all be brought separetly over 6months to a year so what ever ive got will be spent on the engine.

im definately going to get throttle bodies and after market engine management, so kinda build it around that.

i like the sound of craigs mantzel c16xe. what other mods you got on that and what power output it got?

yeah if it was me i'd go the c16xe/x16xe route and save up and get aftermarket management, throttle bodies and cams and then you'll be looking at 160bhp+

is there much difference in either c16xe or x16xe? i always thort the first was a better choice.
