only the wiring will cause trouble. the coil wire from the 1.0 needs chasing back to the ign switch & replacing

with decent guage black wire mate, oh and the bellhousing on the 1 litre box is different i.e the bolt holes, you need to use the belmont box.

Looks like this is going in for the time being,so a few questions...
1.Do i need the belmont shafts or will 1litre ones fit
2.What wires etc need retaining/replacing
If anybody could think of anything else that needs mentioning please let me know.Any help much appreciated

Theres fook all wiring. Its mainly in the coil. Your Nova shafts & CV's will slot into the gearbox from the Belmont, your best of using that as its a 5 speed & as said wont fit the existing g/box.

A decent mechanic would do the swap in a day. The wiring is detailed above. Theres a wire in the 1.0 cars that has a resistor or similar in it. You need to remove that wire & run another (to the coil).

If its a 1.0 then I believe you will need a 1.2/3/4 carb tank as the 1.0 does have a return.

Your existing fuel lines into the 1L carb should just plumb into the new carb I'd imagine. (more of an injection man).

The wire is the ign live to the coil I think. Have a look tomorrow, black wire going to the coil...

Thats what i thought because there is only one line to the carb

It should also have the same carb as an sr, depending on the year it will either be the pierburg 1b or 2e (single or twin choke) my 85' sr had a single choke but I think from 87 they had twin choke.

the coil wire on a 1.0 is really easy to find, it has a clear sheathing, remove the dials, & column covers, & track it back down the loom to the ign switch. then replace it with a good piece of normal wire.

regarding the non-return in the 1 litre tank, a return can simply be t-pieced into the feed without any problems, the pierburg 2e3 carb has a small fuel reservoir which has a feed from the tank, a feed to the carb and a return to the tank, simply t-piece the return back into the feed and it should work fine
