iv got my private plate stuck on my corsa and im wanting to transfer it. im able to get an mot for the car so after that what is needed? if i get it insured for a few days, get my certificate and then get the car taxed, do i just ring up dvla and they can take it off? is the price still £105 to put it on retention?

i havnt done it for years, and im wanting it off asap as im wanting to claim the tax back after iv got it off and also cancel the insurance straight away

you need one to take it off the car tho dont you? well u need to tax the car, which means u need an mot. the car its going on is fully taxed and that, i just need to get it off my corsa and then i can scrap it

well i changed mine about 4 months ago. and i went to dvla in exeter and i ask about if i could put it on my 2ltr project that has no mot or tax. well been off the road for three years and they said yes thats fine it dont matter. the only thing is if your car is taxed they print a new one out for you and if it aint taxed .....

just looking at this link:

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/PersonalisedRegAndNumberPlates/DG_4022576

What are the requirements for participating vehicles?

Vehicles taking part in the Cherished Transfer scheme must be currently licensed, subject to annual testing (MoT/HGV) and available for inspection. However, to help individuals whose vehicles, for unexpected reasons are unable to be re-licence, DVLA will still consider applications where:

the tax disc for the donor vehicle has expired no more that 12 months previously. (Prior to 1 December 2005 the concession was six months). Please note that to qualify for this concession, there must be no break between the natural expiry date of the licence (tax) and the commencement of SORN. This concession does not apply if you have submitted your licence (tax) for a refund
the donor vehicle is not old enough to be tested, ie less than three years old for cars, motorcycles, etc or less than one year old in the case of HGVsIn both the above circumstances, all other requirements of the number transfer facility must be met in order for applications to be considered. Recipient vehicles (vehicle the number is to be assigned to) must be currently taxed in order to take part in the cherished transfer scheme.

the tax on my corsa ran out dec31st2007, does this mean i dont need to do anything else other than fill in the form?

it says that seen as the car has been sorned its likely theyl want to inspect the vehicle, and if it isnt roadworthy (which it clearly isnt), then il have to sort transportation to take it to the inspection, what a joke! itl just be a shell lol
