Oh what fun I am having lol

Just doing the rounds getting a few quotes for the Novargh, so thought I'd chart how well things go. Back in the day, HIC quoted me £289 on their online system for a limited mileage policy (3k), so I'm aiming to get a quote of under £300.

This is me:
26, 0NCB (8 years being used on the Celica), grade A postcode.

This is the car:
88 2dr saloon base spec 1.0, 2.0 16v Astra GTE engine fitted, V6 brakes, Koni/PVD 40mm suspension, 15" cesaro wheels, strut brace, dashboard changes, sports seats, different bumpers and headlights, respray in non-standard colour.

This is the policy I want:
3k limited mileage, TPF&T, 0-150 excess, annual premium <=£300, or monthly of <=£30.

First port of call was intarwebnet. Googled for "modified car insurance" which brought up Performance Direct, Ensleigh, Greenlight and e-Modified.

Ensleigh's online system kept breaking, but after about 10 tries of pressing refresh they must have gotten p!ssed off as they rang me on the mobile number I'd put in lol. End result: too many mods, more than 5 and they can't do it.

Greenlight took in all the details and displayed a message saying they will email me. I expect an email saying "call us" soon...

e-Modified said "cannot do engine conversion", so that didn't get far.

Performance Direct took all the details, then came up with a message saying I had to call them to continue (although it did give me the option of paying monthly at £50 deposit and 9x £18 installments - but no way to buy that lol). They quoted me at £391, then suggested I speak to their specialist department - Call Connection - who put me through to...

Adrian Flux. They said it they wouldn't be able to get under £300 so didn't quote me. Performance Direct then rang back, and forwarded me to...

Herts Insurance. HIC were busy, so I got transferred to their overflow callcentre.... Performance Direct. Who tried to put me through to Flux. FAIL lol

Tried HIC again, but they're still busy so I left my number for them to call me back. Nothing as yet, so I may ring them direct later on.

So far then, the best quote I have is from Performance Direct themselves @ £391. Pants.

Next step is to try the following:

Sky (who insure me on the Celica)
Admiral
Direct Line (I'm sure I've seen both DL and Admiral cover conversions)
HIC (again)

Greenlight sent me an email and a text message (handy, as I was in Asda at the time lol), £397.70 via Highway (same people HIC use...). That includes like for like on mods, courtesy car, legal expenses etc. £200 excess though.

Try BrentAcre too.

HIC have always been cheaper for me, than anyone.

A quote for my car, with a 2L 16v fitted was £389.
And im five years younger than you, have a worse postcode, and a higher mileage policy.
But that was with my ncb(4), which no doubt helps a lot.

Brentacre would be my suggestion too.

Never used them but had a great quote from them years back.

FLUX should be avoided at all costs IMO.

HIC mirrored my NCB from the celica (8 years), and on a 3k policy offered me £356.54 :wtf: Might see if I can nudge that down a bit by getting a quote from Flux.

Sky are busy, so will give Brentacre a call in a mo.

Brentacre were closed, as its gone 5:00 lol

Direct Line said No as the engine conversion wasn't professionally done. Mr Lee, they have insulted your integrity lol

Sky, my favourites :D (comission guys?), said £321 with a like-for-like on mods and £250 excess

CBA to ring Admiral lol, I'll go back to HIC tomorrow and see if they can get under Sky's quote... if they can get under £320 I'll be happy :)

Admiral suck.

I might try Sky as my hic renewal is due in June

Admiral/elephant are ok for standard cars, they gave decent quotes when the GT4 was unmodified.

I use CCUK discount with Sky which saves me a bit, but they're still pretty good, and their customer service is top dog :D

FLUX should be avoided at all costs IMO.

Flux have always given me the best quotes when insuring valvers. Might be my area?

Also, they were the only company out of quite a few who were overly helpful in setting up the club scheme.

Flux have always given me the best price too, never had any accidents so no idea if claiming is a problem with them.

HIC couldn't match Sky, so once again Sky FTW at £321 :)

Would have liked to get a bit closer to £300, but still thats not bad considering the other quotes I had were closer to £400.

Admiral ive always found good on standard cars but they dont insure engine conversions. Last time i tried, they asked me if it was an ecu chip i put in lol

Flux have been best for me, when insuring my redtop they quoted £1200, hic wanted 2k+ !

I just insured a 1ltr A reg for £345..
