Anyone from Scotland willing to come down and help fit my GSi sideskirts

Me and my dad can't seem to get them on

Is there anyone in Scotland who could come and put them on for me

It would be much appreciated anyway

Cheers, Vaughan :)

its dead easy mate. find some pop rivvets the right size, mark were the clips go and pop rivvet them on, the skirts just push onto them then and clip in, they slide off. just did mine yesterday, bout 45mins for both sides.

Aye we tried putting the clips into the sideskirts, which went to plan

Then some sort of paint on the back of the clips

Then we held the skirt up to the car in the correct position but the clip was about 5mm from the car...

We're not really confident about doing it really and someone whos done it before and willing to do it again would be greatly appreciated :)

Vaughan - I'm working this Weekend but could pop down Sunday afternoon if you want a hand - its pretty easy. Ive a rivet gunn riverts and some proper double sided foam tape for the backs...

You'll need some washers though for the underside and I hope you dont mind your side sills getting holes drilled in them!

My dad insists we use the clips though

I told him about screwing them in from the underside but hes for none of it

Is there any chance u could clip them on Ade for me ? :)

I Tek Screwed my Skirts on from below and used some of the double sided Foam tape Ade's speaking about along the sill and the 1/4 panel and its worked no problem. The cars been through the wars, hedges and rivers and never budged an inch!!

As for the Clips, you can use them but you still need to screw them from the underside as well.

Ade, can I suggest some Tek Screws with the Foam sided washers as well as standard washers? That way, you can fit the foam'd washers tight to the sill to reduce the chance of water getting in and corroding the sills.

The sideskirts are OEM ones as well :)

Ade, my dad said that would be fine to drill up through the car

We already have the double-sided tape, tigerseal but I'll need to get some screws and washers

Why dont you just tigerseal the side skirts on? It's the most permenant way to do it! plus its alot easier and obviously you dont need to drill any holes which is just going to encourage rust, if you tigerseal them on and just put some clamps and tape over them until they set. Stuff what your dad says about using clips! it's your car isnt it? whos going to be driving it! if thats the case insist that he blacks out the windows on his car because you say so! if he really wants them put on with clips for some reason get him to pay a bodyshop to put them on.

But they were done from the factory with the clips and my dad likes things original

Drilling up through the sills had me at 1st but f*ck it, needs must and I want them on :)

Ooooooh I forgot about the problem regarding the clips not touching the sill when you are holding the skirt up against the car, it happened me!

Ok this is hard to explain, but here goes. Put 2 or 3 pieces (or how ever many it takes) of foam double sided tape on the clips instead of one piece. This makes it easier to make the clips stay on the car when you slide the skirt off. So, with the clips on the skirt, stick it to the car, push to make the clips stick, then slide skirts off clips. (You may have to do it a few times, I did!) So when you have the clips in their places with the skirts slid off the car, mark the locations for the holes by tapping a star screwdriver with a hammer to make a very small dent, making the drilling easier to do and lets you see where to drill. Take the clips off, and all the sticky tape, drill the holes, protect them from rust, then use self tappers (or whatever) to screw/attach the clips. Now when you go to click the skirts onto the clips, they will be good and tight, and hug the sill! Now you know where to drill the holes for the bottom row of screws! You can drill them through the holes in the skirts, I did!

Take your time at it! :thumb:

Hope this helps!

So the holes on the bottom of the skirts are supposed to be used ?

Yeah, as well as the clips.

Theres also a hole on the 1/4 panel part of the skirt on the inner arch. These used the same plactic rivot that was used to hold bumper skins together, like the Cav Mk3 Bumper, but smaller items.
