My gearbox has started developing some odd sounds.

It's started whining in 5th through certain RPM's (usually around the 3-4k mark) And whining faintly in other gears.

It's also started to sound absolutly terrible in reverse, and When i apply some throttle in any forward gear and let off, the box makes a jumpy "reverse" sound.

Any predictions !?

Get it on Jacks and get the Diff Plate Cover off, sounds like a Bearing may be on the way out, wither that or its starting to eat cogs....

Hows the Transmission Fluid level been? Any issues engaging Gears?

Does it get worse when turning?

It's getting a bit notchy in a couple of gears.

I'm not too bothered about it, i'm taking it off the road for some major changes and probably will end up buying some kind of Quaiffe box.

I'm just wondering wether it's going to suddenly spill itself all over the road, or wether it'l battle on for a while longer.

I'l have a look behind the diff Plate cover.

It doesn't get worse when turning

Its a strong posibility that your diff is on the way out so yes, it may die suddenly. Just take it easy and keep plenty of fluid in it.
