I've never recorded much in-car footage (read as one 1/4mile video) due to not having a digi camera/camcorder. I recently purchased a 7mp sony digi-camera that has a video record function. I appreciate that this isn't gonna be as good as a proper digital camcorder but will the quality be good enough for internet viewing? It says that it is 640x480 at a maximum of 30frames/sec, although that is memory hungry so I'd probably use 16.6frames/sec. What do other people use? Where is best to get a cheap cage type mount?
Cheers guys!

640x480 is ok, thats what my digicam does. I had a problem trying to record at 30fp/s, the memory card could only record at a max of about 18 fp/s. So i had to use the camers 15 fp/s setting, which works fine.
For a light digicam, you could use a window suction mount.
This (http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/chasecam-pdr100.htm) will be what I get next.
That will be plenty for hosting Olly. Myself and Dar have to spend an age reducing the size and quality just to get it hostable.
I would recommend a cage mount ratehr than a dash mount as footage is more interesting to watch if you can see the cockpit IMO :) I designed my mount and got a mate to weld it up for me. Its just made out of 3 small bits of steel and two exhaust clamps.

I'm sure i remember Benji had a cheapo mount that clamped to the cage? Can't find anything searching the net/amazon though

Ill take some pics and measurements of mine tomorrow for ya. Might even be able to get one made up for you if need be, but if you know a local welder, it'll be far easier :)
Or just use cable ties and gaffa tape ;)
When I ran a whole camera on the cage I bought a small tripod, strapped that to the cage and then bolted the camera to that. It's a tiny bit wobbly though.
Quite a few tracks may ask you remove the cam if its not securely mounted?
Id make one from some exhaust clamps, clamped to the cage tube, and then a bolt for the cam base.

I'll check out some camera shops in the city and see what they have. But some pics of yours would be nice :)

Anything less than 25FPS is an abomination to all mankind.
It rapes my eyes and makes Jesus cry.
I'm building up a setup using wireless cameras and a quad processor (dogcamsport sell the quad processor for about £80 or you can get it from an HK seller on Ebay for £50ish and the wireless cameras are about £10 each when purchased in 2 or more quantities. I got a single camera a little while back to test the quality and its good enough for hostable stuff etc.
Will be using my Archos to record to (but mounted nicely so its not a PITA like at combe)
